Dune / Children of Dune Collection - 5-DVD Set

Happy to be able to watch in a High def. view. Excellent story telling of the source material.

One of my favorite movies of all time and one of my favorite sci-fi movies of all time!!! The music, the story, the colors are all in my opinion magnificent. I have watched this movie so many times over and over again I cannot even count how many times. It’s my favorite go to movie when I want sci-fi different, it never gets boring and I find something new I’ve missed. I find it relaxing but not boring I love the colors that emanate from the screen and are also quite relaxing and being Christian I find the uniqueness of how it parallels Christianity in the stories of Jesus Christ set in the very far future. I for one appreciate the viewpoint of this author and portrayed within this movie the difference of what may have been 2000 years ago and what is now. Of course that goes against many peoples beliefs hopes and dreams. I bought this disk as a back up for my original which I will store way. Unfortunately I’ve only been able to find it on disk and have not been able to find it where I could download the stream. I find the three different versions of this movie interesting. I recently bought a novel so I can find out exactly what the author truly wrote compared to what is portrayed in the movies. But even then I’m not sure I really want to… Lol I have both sets of movies Dune and children of Dune both are excellent movies in my opinion. If you do purchases I hope you enjoy as much as I!

I've seen many film versions of Frank Herbert's book, and this is the most faithful depiction of the story. If you love the book, you need this set of discs.

Dune is an extensive series of books. Translating them to the screen presents a number of challenges.That out of the way, this collection of DVDs is an entertaining adaption of the first three books that does a better job of capturing the spirit of Dune than any of the others. This series is worth watching if you've never seen it before. Personally, I would read the books first. But it is worthy of watching if you have not. It is fun to see some of the world come alive.The production quality is of limited quality which is its biggest negative. It is better than I would have expected for the SciFi channel, though. The acting is hit or miss. They understandably had to cut a lot out relative to the books. While I enjoyed some aspects of their interpretation, I found some of it cringy or boring. The negative aspects are most apparent in the latter parts of the series that cover Messiah and Children.Overall, I recommend to anyone interested in the world of Dune or any diehard sci-fi fan. No other adaption is as close to the books as this. It's not for everyone, though, due to its limited production quality.

This is not the first version but the 2nd and the mini series but I love this version; great actors, great music! It was a little expensive for a DVD but it's worth it if you love the series! I couldn't find it streaming so it's worth it! : )

These series are my favorite interpretation of the Dune and Children of Dune. I gave away my copies of these DVDs to a charity when we moved into a new home. Then I decided I had made a mistake. I looked for the series on streaming video and could not find it. So, I purchased another set.

One of the best versions of the dune series ever made.

This movie is great and goes into more detail covering the Second and third books. I really enjoyed watching this movie and recommend it for those who are true Dune fans.
