Take a gamble?
Unit came defective. After getting refund from Amazon, I opened up the chassis to find the contacts were never connected from battery terminals to the board. Typical Chinese quality control.Update: vendor contacted me with haste and sent another unit which arrived within a week. New unit works fine, has a fit and finish above the price point, and is reasonably accurate (within 5° in most cases...that's not too bad for a IR therm at this price.)However, I did get to see the inside fabrication with the previous unit, and I would be leery of dropping this item based on what I saw with pretty shoddy connections... One three foot fall could spell the end. Still, not bad at all.

Good for reptiles
it works pretty good for keeping my reptiles and baby birds basking spots temperatures It might not be super accurate it gives me an idea So if you need it to be accurate it isn't a good fit but for what I use it for it works good

An OK bargains solution, but likely not as reliable as more expensive models.
Not exactly what I expected, but you get what you pay for. It does most of what I need it to do. I was not prepared to spend more at this time.

Excellent customer service from Mxson
This infrared thermometer was reading about 15 degrees F warmer than the actual temperature. Compared it against other thermometers and known fridge/freezer temperatures and very inaccurate. Returned it and will try another brand.[UPDATE] After seeing this original review, Mxson were very quick in contacting me and asking me the details of how I had tested the thermometer. They were very apologetic and offered to send me another unit for free even though Amazon had refunded the purchase price. The second unit arrived promptly and performed much better than the first. The readings were very close to other thermometers I was using.Excellent customer service from Mxson.
