Throws a good spark!
I bought a bunch of these for friends after teaching them to build flint and steel fires. I checked them myself, and they work great. They are large enough for someone with bigger hands than mine to hold comfortably, and the striking edge is thick enough front to back that it puts a little more distance between your knuckles the sharp piece of flint that you will eventually and inevitably slice across your knuckles while learning to do this. The striking edge is also slightly ridged, a feature that I really appreciate, as it makes it easier to throw a spark. They aren't nearly as pretty a hand wrought one, as they appear to be cut from a slab. But my pretty hand wrought has a snapped off handle, and is shaped in such as way as that I frequently have cut knuckles. See the above statement. So after testing them to make sure they worked well, I ended up buying another one for myself to replace my "pretty" one.Solid, easy to use, and gets the job done.

Creates nice spark and big hands fit inside!
I bought to add to a treasure box cuz every pirate needs to start a fire or just make sparks! Surprized it works so well!

Great.
Good steel and does what it should and nice that it has a wrought iron look to it.

Good product, disapppointing service from Amazon
Product works well but Amazon service is poor. This is another one in a long list of things that was delivered late by Amazon. It was not even shipped until after the date it was supposed to arrive. As Amazon gets bigger, its service gets worse.

Spark it up…..
Took a flyer on this one and wound up loving it. So easy to use with the flint rocks. It sparks easy and fits well in the hand. Almost as primitive of fire starter as you can get next to friction fire. Love this thing.

Cuts your fingers (not recommended)
This steel does throw sparks! But it is also unfinished and sharp. I tore the skin in my fingers and hand trying different holds. And, it not dark steel like the image shown but shiny. Not really an issue but feels misleading somehow. Upon examination it is obvious this was cut by a water jet along with hundreds of others out of a single sheet of steel. The reason it's so sharp. It was polished likely in a tumbler, but little attention paid to the sharp edges I'm going to have to fix. I cannot recommend this product because of the variety of pain it causes.

A good basic striker
Simple and makes excellent sparks on flint rock. Not as fancy as a couple of my forged ones but the price point also reflects that. Looks to be laser cut out of flat stock, edges are not sharp and it's comfortable to use. Would purchase again if the need arises.
