One of our printers left behind by my late sibling has had a size of HP ink too hard to find in local stores, as I also saw the warranty for it when looking up its serial number showed it was from 2011. A dear neighbor was able to troubleshoot why my HP printer would not grab the paper or seemed jammed. It needed a lot of dusting in the inside and I learned that even a printer can be affected by desert climate and not function as well as it should. So the ink cartridges were not the problem at all like I used to think, just because the HP number of ink did not have an XL on its sizing, I thought the ink I bought here would not be compatible. It is working just fine and thank you for providing this ink for sizes of cartridges difficult to find (I looked online for Costco, asked in Target, and a nearby Staples which does have a guidebook for HP ink cartridge sizes but did not have what I need) so this was a godsend finding this on the shopping pages.

May 2023. Coming back after a year. Upping the review to 4 stars because this cartridge performed much better than other similar I tried (after doing the chip replacement trick). Bought it again! —— The printer doesn't give the expected (and overridable) warning of "non-oem catrtridge detected", instead it errors out with "printer cannot communicate with the cartridge". Waste of money because it's past the return date, and I'm really sad, because manufacturing wise it seems very solid - it's the least messy after-market cartridge I laid my hands on so I'm sure it'd have great potential. ------------- After a few minutes of tinkering, I found an easy fix. I had another non-OEM cartridge previously in the printer, and turns out the little printed circuits on the cartridges are very easily swappable between non-OEM cartridges. So I pulled the chips from the old cartridges (see attached picture), slid them into the new cartridges, and my printer wasn't the wiser. Colors printed out well, except as is the case with any non-OEM cartridge you can't monitor the ink level; on the bright side, that's exactly the "feature" that allows you to swap the circuit board. Most likely my little workaround wouldn't work if you are starting with an empty HP genuine cartridge...

Unfortunately completely ruined my printer. Was excited to try these in my HP6500. Printer was working ink was just fading. When I replaced cartridges Black ink wouldn’t work at all. Tried to whip the contacts as suggested. Didn’t help. Was receiving an error message about non HP cartridges Cleaned and aligned the printheads multiple times and regardless black would not come out. After a few hours emailed customer service and never received a response. Finally realized it was just flooding the inside of the printer. Didn’t get my money back for these and it cost me $450 to buy a new Epson without these carriages.

Aside from the error message that they are not genuine HP cartridges, these produced very good results, including photographs.

The main reason I need to buy colour ink is the printer won't work without it. The black ink works as expected, but for some reason any attempt to print yellow instead prints out green. Totally worth the price for my needs, but probably not for actual professional work.
