Great starter book for young speech clients
As an SLP and lover of books I was very excited to see this. The book covers 3 final consonant sounds (/p/, /t/, and /k/). 2 of these sounds (/p/ and /t/) are 2 of the 3 sounds I start out targeting when working on final consonant deletion skills. The /k/ is a middle developing sound and typically if I am targeting this sound the kid is slightly older and in need of more engaging activities to work on it. However, I can appreciate the sound being added as I can use it to see if the younger child is stimuluable for it. If not it's still a cute and fun book that they can enjoy as I bombard them with the final sounds. Each sound has 5 targets, giving your kiddos 15 words to practice. I just received my book today and immediately wanted to give my thoughts as a clinician. I will have to provide an update as to how well received it is by my clients.

Almost didn't buy it. Glad I did!
I admit it. I'm a cover snob. And to be honest, this cover was really off putting to me, especially for a children's book. In fact, it was only after I googled the title and saw an image of one of the pay layouts INSIDE that I decided to give it a go, because inside, the artwork was SO much more colorful, fun, and aesthetically pleasing! Content-wise, I already see it as an invaluable tool. Although I really, really, really wish it came in different binding. Ideally, board book style! But barring that, something that makes it easy for the page to lay open in your lap without you holding the book open. This particular format just didn't really feel like it was designed to be a children's book. That said, I would give the content 10 stars! And that makes up for the stars I otherwise would have deducted for less than ideal binding and cover design. I would, however, re-buy the book if it came out with a better binding and cover design... because I'm still a snob. I know, I know. Don't judge a book by it's cover. But many people do. Including me. I'm glad I looked past that this time.Content wise, not only are they using easy to say first words, the repetition of the words and the repetition of the sentence structure style really encourages speech. "Up, up, up. The hot air balloon goes up." So one page is always the easy to say word spoken 3 times. Then the other side of the layout is always a sentence ending in that easy to say word. This allows for you to encourage the child to finish the sentence for you. So not only is it a great tool for encouraging speech, it's also great for building pre-reading skills :)

Beautiful Book
Lovely book! I love the illustrations and am happy to read it to my toddler. How I wish I knew about the importance of word repetition with my first baby who later ended up being diagnosed with a speech delay. Nonetheless, I'm glad we discovered this book for my second baby. I live in a desert and when delivered I noticed the glue that binds the book lost adhesion to the backing. I simply hot glued (for lack of any other glue at the time) the backing and have had no other worries since then.

Words gained in days
I have never written a review for any product I’ve purchased but felt compelled to share how pleased my husband and I are with this book.Soooo, it is a very basic book but it has worked wonderfully with my 2 year old son. He is excited to read this book multiple times a day and has gained a handful of words since we began reading it a few days ago. The word play makes it easy and fun for the kids. My son is not only able to say the words but he can complete the sentence when I pause for the last word on each page. This was a suggestion the author had in the guide to using the book. Highly recommended!

Definitely recommend this
Our 2 year old is a slow speaker for whatever reason (he’s #4, living in a bilingual house, he’s a boy... idk). He loves this book! He asks for it multiple times a day, happily does his best to repeat the words, and we see improvements in his speech. We’ve recommended it to others in similar situations, and they all say the same.

Such a great tool and my daughter still asks for it!
We introduced this book when my daughter was about 1 and she always seemed to love the rhythm of it and the sounds of the words. Then as she got older, she really started putting the pieces together and she loved finishing the sentences to use her new words! Now at 2 she asks for this book often, and gets a kick out of the way she can finish all of the sentences. Great tool to have in your toolbox when introducing speech to your kiddos!

A Gem of a Purchase - Highly Recommend
I came across Easy-To-Say First Words while browsing the books section for a gift to take to a first birthday party. I am not joking when I say this was the hit of the party! The birthday boy had me read it to him 5 times. With the repetition of the one syllable words he began imitating the sounds I was making and was absolutely mesmerized by the illustrations. He spent time on every page running his fingers over the pictures. The illustrations are absolutely darling. Whimsical and colorful. Once we reached the end he immediately flipped back to the beginning and sat patiently in my lap listening and mimicking my sounds. So thrilled with this purchase and highly highly recommend it. This is definitely going to be a staple gift for all future first birthdays!

NOT A BOARD BOOK!
I purchased this book thinking it was a board book. It is NOT! However, my son loves this book, I just have to hold it and read it because he will tear the pages.
