Worth the Cost!
Yes, its expensive. I believe it is worth the cost though. There are no plastic parts that will snap or break off preventing you from having to purchase another CD mount. This item is easy to use, just slide it in your DVD player, and tighten the two knobs. There are two additional spacers included if you happen to have a wider CD slot. I use this item in a 2015 Crosstrek and the mount itself does not interfere too much with the 7" screen. If you place your phone high enough on the magnetic mount and place the phone sideways, you can minimize how much the phone blocks the screen. I have to partially drive on a dirt road with lots of wash board to get to work and the phone and the mount itself does not budge. All in all, this was a great purchase. I was so impressed by the quality, I also just bought iMagBond's vent mount as a spare. There is nothing worse than cheap plastic mounts that fail!Lastly, I purchased this product outright. I was not given a sample for review.

Heavy duty and discrete
A CD mount is a perfect solution if the controls under the mount area are seldom used and are unnecessary to be seen. My car fit both criteria. The Amazon reviews of the less-expensive plastic competitors seemed to have a common theme: they work well initially but then the plastic breaks in a couple months. So an all-aluminum mount solves that problem, but for a price. This is an expensive mount, but it is constructed well enough to survive almost any abuse. My car has a wider CD opening, but the extra pads provided made for a secure fit.The big problem with magnetic cases is where to put the metal plate on the phone or on the case, and not interfere with wireless charging. I have a Samsung Galaxy S8. The phone itself does not have enough metal in it to create a magnetic attachment without the metal plates that come with the mount. Putting the plate in between the phone and case works only if the case is thin, but it kills wireless charging. With a thicker case like an Otterbox Defender or a Unicorn Beetle, putting the metal plate in the case doesn't allow the magnet to be strong enough. So plate has to be affixed externally. I found a solution that aĺlows wireless charging to work. I cut the iMagbond plate in half and then epoxied the plate to the back of the case right below the camera opening. With the S8 in a thick case, the magnet connection is strong and I can still use wireless charging without having to remove the case. See the attached picture.I like the fact that this mount is so small and that it almost disappears into the dash. The magnet eliminates the fiddling required with non-magnetic grip devices. This is truly a one-hand device. Highly recommended product! But before you buy, really look at your dash to make sure your phone would not be blocking important controls or displays.

UPDATE: magnet could still be stronger, but now it works very well. 😅👍
Okay, as other reviewers have stated, this thing is beautifully made. It fits into my 2002 Toyota 4RUNNER's factory head unit and grips pretty well. That's not a problem. The insertion mechanism is strong and holds firmly even after bouncing around in this old truck. The black one looks good... inconspicuous and functional... the most well-made part of this truck's interior. The problem for me, Al Franken, is that the magnet mount itself, which must hold the weight of (in this case) an iPhone 6S, is disappointing. I used both of the included metal plates INSIDE (yes, I know, but I have my reasons, explained below) a new, thin rubber case (bought to accommodate this CD player mount). I placed them vertically up the center of the phone, offering the largest possible area for the magnet, and taped them in place with packing tape, leaving the extremely strong 3M glue with its protective cover intact. It holds for the most part, but even on pretty smooth Virginia interstates, bridge expansion joints can dislodge the phone, allowing it to fall down by my feet at 70mph. Not cool. The reason I put the metal plates INSIDE the thin rubber case instead of outside is because they'll snag on my pants pocket (mostly Levis) and potentially scratch furniture if gently dropped or tossed as I tend to do with my phone. I don't think this is unreasonable, but the description is very clear that it _may_ not hold without putting the plate on the OUTSIDE. I took a chance to be able to use such an otherwise beautifully and satisfyingly designed and made item. So, I've used this thing for just 3 or 4 days and have fiddled with it every time I get in the car, with no love yet. I'll give it another week, and may relent and put the plate on the outside of the case and see if it's as bad as I imagine it will be. If it works, one way or the other, I'll keep it.Nevertheless, I've handled tiny neodymium magnets that feel stronger than this rather large mounting disk. Don't really understand why that can't easily be made stronger.with more powerful magnets. In any case, it's going back, regrettably, if it remains something that requires fussing with. I'll update this review once I know.———Maybe I was just in a sour mood when I wrote that first part of the review, having already sent back a similar device made of plastic. It had a weak grip and wouldn't hold the phone either. In any case, I taped both the included metal plates inside my flat phone case and it grips quite well now.I would still encourage the manufacturer to increase the strength of their magnets but I now love this thing.

Doesn't stay in slot, cheap sticker melts off, gets hot enough to burn you, avoid this product.
HIGHLY disappointed in this product. Lasted just long enough to be outside of the return window. The cheap sticker over the magnet curled and fell off because this thing gets hot af. The few weeks the garbage sticker stayed on, the surface was too slick to maintain a good grip that didn't slide around. Now, without it on there at all, I don't even bother trying anymore. It's pointless. I have scorched my hand multiple times on this thing after getting back in my car after work. Also, the grip in the cd slot is not all that strong, because the mechanism used to spread the metal plates doesn't open quite far enough.Overall, this is easily my worst purchase ever on Amazon, and I regret getting it.

Just what the Doctor ordered.
No clutter, high end device which fits easily into the Mercedes GLC CD slot and keeps my iPhone 6 Plus in place where I need it for navigation. I just put the magnet between the phone and the leather case and it works fine without being glued into place. I had to use the extra padding provided to stop it from moving in the CD slot but the way it is installed and angled now, I can still reach all the buttons which are located directly under the CD slot. If you have multiple devices, you need to order additional magnets.

Not satisfied.
Although the construction of this device feel solid and well made, it fails to do what it is advertised. It does not remain attached to the CD slot due to the flaps being too small to get a good grip.Buy at your own risk.
