This set of magnets was much stronger than I had realized, which is a good thing. I installed these onto my son's closet doors, which work better than expected. All the hardware was included. No installation manual but the install is pretty self-explanatory.

We have a giant Maine coon cat who figured out how to open the door. These magnets are STRONG. Not a cabinet magnet. So now when he “opens” the handle the door still cannot open. Even with his weight on it. Works on grand kids too!!! Five stars.

Magnets work and are stronger than regular cabinet magnets. They are strong enough that the 3M tape cannot transfer the strike plate from the magnet to the door during installation. However, there isn't any truth to the 90lb claim.They do work, if you know how to install magnet latches by measuring, and want magnets slightly stronger than the ones you normally find in the hardware aisle at a box store these are good. I rated 4 stars for the ridiculous 90lb claim. If they were that strong you could hang elementary kids from the ceiling with them.

I inherited a house that has a set of swinging doors (like a bar in an old fashioned western) which were installed to keep the cats out of the foyer about forty years ago. What followed was a thirty year battle between Dad and the cats, who wanted into the foyer. MOstly, the cats won. That said, I appear to have inherited the battle along with the house because I now have four, large kittens who really want in the foyer. Having seen various things tried (note the gate latch in the picture) I opted for something new. Magnets. It's mounted slightly differently then intended (it's meant to latch two doors with the magnetic plates hitting included striker plates) with the two magnetic plates (which are attracted to each other) mounted so they overhang and attach in the open space between the doors. It's definitely pretty firmly in place, but I can come and go needed and so far (three days, take of that, what you will, but it's the longest anything has held so far) no cats in the foyer. The latches seem to be very well made, and the magnets hold on firmly. It comes enough screws and they too, are good quality, not especially long, but it doesn't seem to need that.

I see some people saying they don't hold their door properly and others saying they work great.I am using them on two 4ft x 2ft Cabinet doors and the 90lb magnets hold them so tight that i have to pull hard to open the doors. During installation I realized that if the flat plate is not mating exactly onto the two magnetic strips then the holding power drops off to nothing! If they are aligned properly they work perfectly. Take your time and get them aligned. Don't be afraid to redo it if they are not aligning properly. I had to take one off twice due to alignment issues.
