Scotwood Industries 50B-Heat Prestone Driveway Heat Concentrated Ice Melter, 50-Pound

I did not receive the product/brand I ordered. Unfortunately I did not have enough time to return it due to inclement weather occurring the next day. I was forced to open it in hopes that it would work. I ordered the specific brand and product because I know it works how I like it to. I did notice that the driveway melt I received does not work as well as the product I ordered and paid for.

This is a very good product, but you must know how to use it correctly:1) When applying, it's supposed to be applied very sparsely, roughly 1 lb to about 50 sq. ft., ergo the term "Concentrated ice melter"2) When using it and storing the rest, make sure you put it inside a plastic bucket that has a rubber rim on it for a air-tight and moisture seal. Once you open the bag the moisture gets in and starts to fuse the pellets together3) When using on concrete, you must know it was a quality job done on your sidewalk. Some contractors make the sidewalk look better but cheaply done by putting a lot of aggregate and very little cement, to make it look like it's more high quality they stucco the top of it to make it look better. This is part of the problem is when the concrete is done cheaply or a very cheap brand is used then you will have this problem with any kind of ice melter or rock salt. A cheap job is a cheap job4) Last but not least, safe handling of the product, if you're using the 50 lb bags instead of the plastic containers (and i don't blame you because it's much cheaper), make sure you're wearing gloves, ie.. Nitrile glove opposed to Later or Vinyl. Nitrile gloves are better designed to handle chemicals, including rock salts and ice melters, as well as lot of other harsh chemicals like paint strippers, stains, clear coats, etc...

The "Driveway Heat" is an amazing product, I have used it for years and will continue to use it! But Scotwood Industries packaging for shipment was very poor. The boxes were torn to shreds when it arrived at my house and the bags had little tears in them from being subjected to the outer packaging being torn.

This is the best icemelt on the market. It is a little more expensive but it lasts three times longer and does not harm concrete or grass.

This is the 2nd or 3rd time I bought this product and it works great!

I have stated that I think this is the best ice melt available. I live at the top of a very steep hill. I remove the snow, but need to put something down to prevent ice or black ice from forming. I have used every product available in our area and have never seen anything work as well as Driveway Heat. Works fast and lasts longer. I have only needed to apply it once to the driveway. I purchase 100 lbs in the fall and it makes it thought the winter season.

Came with a different name than the bag I ordered, however it was the same ingredients. Left a great looking film on my blacktop for weeks.....
