This Kit Rocks!
I mostly bought this kit for the indigo and I was very impressed with the amount of towels I was able to dye. I think I did 18 large flour sack towels and had some indigo to spare. Make sure your material is 100% cotton for best results. I did mix two vats and dyed them in two batches and the color turned out great. This goes without saying but just be smart and do this outside. I know one other reviewer was being VERY dramatic about the smell and trying to scare people from using the indigo. I dyed my towels outdoors lol (like duh) and had no issues. Picture is of the towels dried. They were quite a bit darker when wet so keep that in mind and continue dipping if you want to go even darker! Hope this helps someone else who wants to give this kit a try. It was fun and easy and a great non-intimidating way to try indigo! Also you get two other colors to try which is nice. To DYE for!!!

"Non-toxic mordant" gasses killed bird. Not eco friendly.
I bought this kit because it says it is all natural, non-toxic, and eco-friendly. Making a sodium hydrosulfite mix to reduce indigo-is NOT eco-friendly. I followed the instructions and made my indigo vat outside due to the smell. I went inside for a few minutes while the vat reduced, and came back outside to a poor dead bird on the ground next to the vat. After using the kit I researched sodium hydrosulfite and it turns out there are specific methods of disposal-you cannot just flush down the drain. It is also bad for the environment and can be toxic to animals. Poor little bird. No warning on the instructions at all. And also no instructions on how to safely dispose of the materials afterwards. There ARE natural ways of doing this-but this is not it.

Fun , feels like a good brand but hard even with instructions
I love the colors, the concept and the packaging. I just think it is more adult and complicated than in the advertising

Easy and fun!
The media could not be loaded. Really cool way to get started with natural dyeing. This was my first time dyeing anything, and the instructions they provided were easy to follow. They provide mostly everything you need, so I was able to do this in my kitchen (you do need your own bucket and some white vinegar). I only messed around with the indigo but it held well with my 100% cotton clothes. Not sure how the other powders would turn out.Overall I think this was a great purchase. I don’t leave many reviews but I highly recommend this!

My husband almost called 911
I wish this product came with a warning label or hazmat suit. The indigo and hydrosulphate combination produced a cloud of noxious gas, immediately making me cough and my eyes tear up. I had to fumigate my entire home. I almost called 911, the fumes were so overpowering and I couldn’t breath. After doing some research, I learned that hydro sulfate hasn’t been used for shibori dye since the 70s, like asbestos and mercury, it has been phased out and replaced with safer chemicals for household use.The directions say the indigo dye process is “magical” and an experience to share with your children. NO. NO NO NO. It’s absolutely deranged for people to use this kit anywhere near their children, let alone buy it for them as a present as other reviewers have mentioned. It’s not a magical experience, it’s child abuse.I followed every step correctly and still made my home smell like a meth lab. There are so many fun crafts for kids to do that won’t leave them covered in radiation burns. In general, this kit is a waste of money. It comes with an arbitrary amount of each mordant, an assortment of misshapen gloves, ten rubber bands and not enough dye powder to make more than three or four small hand towels. The directions are pretty confusing (again, I followed them correctly but had to reread them three or four times) and some of the steps are either unnecessary or vary from what other guides say. Instructions such as “use three small spoons” as a unit of measurement are too vague. And again, there is NOTHING magical about the indigo dye process as described in this kit, using the chemicals provided in this kit.Unless you want to DIY some sort of chemical warfare, don’t buy this kit.

INCREDIBLE KIT!
Such a stunning kit, I have purchased this kit multiple times and as a natural dyer it is rare to find a supplier that provides such even, consistent, and nearly effortless results. I have endorsed this product to so many artists that I finally placed a large order to expand beyond the kit's palette which has been absolutely stunning! I have been able to mix and make new palettes and only Honey Oak's dyes excels in this most stress free way!!

Amazing eco-friendly Kit!
Was very excited to order this KIT for my children as it was natural /organic/ bio degradable...... and it did not disappoint.. The KIT is awesome and easy to use. The instructions were fairly simple and straight forward.Came with 3 colours Indigo, Sun Yellow and Turkey Red and all of them looked great (kids loved the blue shade the most) To be honest I was expecting them to be a bit brighter but they do mention that the natural colors will be earthy/soft.You can tie your fabric for a tie dye effect or dye the entire fabric in one color. I wish they had explained how to tie the fabric for the best effect. I had to watch some you tube videos to understand the tying method. Have washed the dyed clothes a couple of times and colours did not fade. The color powders also had a slight odor which I believe is because it is plant based. But no complaints as much happier with my kids using natural products than chemicals. Will be gifting this to a few friends for sure.

Fun Tye-Dye
The product was packaged so nicely and we liked the colors a lot. My boys made these using the indigo kit.
