Hilda and the Troll (Hildafolk) Hardcover – September 17, 2013

My son (8) is really enjoying this book! He says it's a great story. One small warning for those that care - one of the characters does say "Damn it". We're not hung up about cuss words in our family, but I know that some families would want to know.

My kids love this book. The story is well written, the characters are interesting, the whole world Hilda lives in is amazing. We quickly bought another one in this series and I imagine we'll have the whole collection by the end of the year. There is one page where a lost giant says dammit. While we know we don't talk like that in the house, the kids thought it was hysterical to find that in this book. Hilda is already the coolest, I think that just gave the book another cool point in their minds. The kids now look at all rocks and wonder what they look like as trolls. It is great to see them view and explore the works a little differently after reading this story.

Great quality book, front to back. Love the amount of care that went into its design. I ordered the book for my kids and they really enjoy the read.

Beautiful book, but it's annoying that there's a big Netflix sticker on the front that you can't remove.

My daughter loved this. She first saw the netflix series. She can't wait to read the rest of the series! She is very much into graphic novels right now, loves art and writing stories. Makes a great gift!

My son and I love the book and the show, but the 'd' word was in the book. I'm surprised no other parent mentioned this. We only got into the series because it was a recommended comic book for early readers. We want the rest of the series, but I am concerned about the cursing.

bought this for my great niece after seeing the Netflix adaptation. she's a good role model for any kid.

I bought this for my niece as a Christmas present. She collects comics and graphic novels and I was really excited to find this version that was not touted as a Netflix tie-in. It's a large hardcover book. Looks like a version that came out before the show, I mean Twig is blue in the picture (he isn't blue on the edition we got though, lol). However, the cover has what looks like a sticker that says something like, "Now a show on Netflix." She tried to take it off only to find out it's part of the book! It's not a big deal, but she was kinda disappointed (as was I). We love the Netflix show, that's how we learned about Hilda, but she didn't necessarily want it plastered on the front of her "fancy" Hilda book XD

There were no children's birthdays coming up to use as an excuse to buy this, so I just bought it for myself. The hardcover is great, with a fabric binding that reminds me of books I read when I was younger. The artwork is fantastic, and the story innocent but sincere enough to be enjoyed by adult and child alike. One particular line from the wood man struck me as quite profound for such an unassuming package.
