A birthday gift for my daughter who has several hedgehogs in her garden.

I was concerned when I saw the pics in the reviews suggesting this is poorly built. There will always be some that slip through the net but the one I received came ready assembled, well packed and well built in perfect condition. More importantly it’s functional and hedgehog safe unlike some which allow the spokes to get stuck. The entrance is large enough for a large hedgehog but cats etc won’t be able to get in. A lot has been made about it not being waterproof etc, the roof on mine would lead it to be waterproof but there are some gaps at the side for ventilation. A hedgehog would not ordinarily hibernate in a waterproof home but would create a nest in twigs, leaves and burrow down. I’m going to put this in a safe location and cover with twigs and leaves to try to create a natural environment and cover the floor with leaves and dried grass. This should serve hibernation as well as any other place a hedgehog would choose. It is made of wood and to be friendly to animals it isn’t heavily treated which means it will rot eventually perhaps after a couple of years. All in all for the relatively low price I’m very happy.

Nice little hedgehog house - I’ve put under trees so it won’t get very wet - some of my hogs will be too big I think for the door gap - we will see - they are not hibernating yet though - I have brought two so we will see

Thought it would have a more weatherproof cover so I have covered it with some Rosemary prunings. Nobody has moved in yet!

A great hog house but the roof lets in water. The slats do not overlap so I had to put a plastic cover over the roof to waterproof it better. I will cover it in roofing felt next.
