Schlage's product is unreliable and there is no customer commitment
This lock worked for about a year. Now it has become unreliable. Both locking and unlocking randomly fail to engage the deadbolt after entering the code. I contacted the Schlage Customer Commitment Center via fax, as their warranty indicates. The product has a limited 3-year electronic warranty. It's been over 2 weeks since I contacted Schage and I have not received a reply. It is very unprofessional to ignore customers' warranty claims. I'm very disappointed in Schlage. I'll have to file a complaint through Amazon.

Stopped working properly within one year
Initially the lock worked well. However, much like numerous reviewers below who have had this lock for at least a few months, when I enter the code, I can hear the actuator move, but the knob would simply spin. This has gotten progressively worse until now there are occasions when the lock takes up to one minute to lock/unlock. I have replaced the battery, with no effect. I have tried to contact the manufacturer repeatedly but have not yet been able to talk to a human - I simply get placed on permahold with classical piano music. Schlage provides no support? Save your money. I would NOT recommend the purchase of this lock.

Careful on install!!!
Worked great for a year. Super easy to install and program. Design flaw: the tab on the inside of the deadblot should have a sheild on it to prevent wire pinching. During installation this wasnt obviously. I hooked up the wire as it said. On inspection, theres plently of space and looks like wires are in the clear. The wire worked its way to the little tab and slowly got worn down. Attached photos. Secure the wire to keep it out of the way when you install (some duct tape). There really should be a sheild over the moving tab to prevent the pinching risk

READ IF YOUR LOCK SPINS WITHOUT ENGAGING
I dont write reviews but I found out great information today.I have the same problem as everyone else, lock doesnt catch or engage reliably.I spoke with Schlage, its a known design flaw that the "engineering department" resolved. They are replacing my 1 year old lock under warranty with the "updated" version that corrects the design flaw.Call them and get your locks replaced!

Schlage, You Did Me Wrong
This electronic lockset hasn't worked out. From the beginning the exterior latch mechanism failed to engage the deadbolt routinely. The final straw was today as the electronics took a dump and the lock had to be opened with 2lb dead force technology. I'm in the Pacific Northwest, and we get a little precipitation in these parts. Apparently the weather had something to do with the lock failure. As you can see in the photo the corrosion for less than two months after installation is extensive. Here's the rub. 30 day window for returns. Fortunately, Amazon has excellent customer service. I took a small hit on the refund but I'm happy with the overall outcome.

Robbers Please Don't Read:)
OMG! Please read this if you've purchased it or thinking about buying it. Robbers, please don't read this...First, to all existing Schlage Touch owners. The next time you try to unlock your unit, just hit the Schlage button. It automatically engages and allows you to unlock your door (thanks to the other reviewer that pointed this out).Unbelievable, works every time on my unit if you use the code to lock it (video taped for proof if you'd like to contest my review). Yeah, your house is or maybe has been WIDE OPEN the whole time. Wow!!! And, yes I tired it after a factory reset, and also allowing several minutes of time, etc.Second, none of the programming works. The "Programming Code" does not work, and that's after 3 factory resets. None of the access codes I entered work either. It starts beeping red (aka, screaming at you that you're wrong) after entering 3 numbers.Just read the other recent reviews. Schlage...what are you thinking? Why not sell a product that just lets the bad guys walk into your house whenever they want? Oh wait, you did that. Horrible product.

Terrible quality, do not buy it!!!
The lock was great.... for the first 3 months. After 3 months the lock won't recognize any battery and it won't operate. Do not waste your money and buy this junk.

A good value basic keyless lock
Put this lock in today and it is really easy. I chose this due to its heavy duty components (just pick up a competitors lock and notice the difference in weight and the components). While it is electronic, the lock bolt is moved manually. This is important since battery life for locks with automatic bolts is greatly reduced. The fact that I turn the lock means I know the bolt is in place. My metal door gets sun during different times of the year and expands and contracts. An automatic lock that requires more force due to the door shifting can cause issues with the life of the mechanism, or in some cases may not lock when you think it did. With this lock if I notice the lock starting to bind, I can pull or push on the door while throwing the bolt thus relieving any pressure and protecting the components. My feeling is that I will get much better life from this lock. I bought a matching handle and was very impressed by the components and their ease of installation.

DOES NOT WORK IN COLD WEATHER !!!Garbage stay away does not work in cold.
DO NOT BUY!! if you live in Canada!! It will not work in below zero temperatures. It might for a bit but will fail. Have tried two lock both failed and needed to break into my house. Garbage.Cons:-does not work below zero.-First one didn’t work had to return-second one is sucking batteries dry in matter a a week.Pros:-nice finish exactly what I was looking for-easy to install, only issue had was tucking wire into battery compartment-seems too be made well.-like that it has no key. Get rid of one more access for break in.-key pad is very responsive. Don't need to push hard.-easy to program your own code-price. Cheapest I found for the quality.Garbage does not work in cold. Does not work below minus zero.

Good for Canadian winters
Approx 7 years ago I installed a keypad deadbolt with mechanised deadbolt action (in and out). The cold Canadian winter temperature made that action struggle because of the effect the cold had on the battery and the lubricity of the mechanism. I chose the BE373 CEN 619 model by Schlage because the in and out action of the deadbolt is hand-powered meaning that the cold will not have a great impact. The battery powered motor only engages the knob, which is not power hungry. So far, this lock has been great. The touch LED on it is a great feature. Highly recommend.

good product.. durability is unknown
i bought the exact same deadbolt lock 3 years ago.. the one i was using died.. had problems with the dial not able to lock into the gear to unlock the door.. not sure if this was from metal fatique from use or what?despite that, i bought it again because I really like that it has no keys.. cannot be picked.. had good experience with the one i previously had.. just not happy that my old one broke in 3 years.. otherwise everything is great.. i wanted a keypad lock because I don't want my kids carrying keys when they go to school and i don't want my lock to be connected online either.

When it breaks, it's REALLY broken!
I actually bought THREE of these locks mostly because of the Schlage name. About 10 days ago, one of them broke. The thumb would just spin and spin and we could not unlock it. The person sleeping in the room had to sleep in the living room for two nights while we waited for a new replacement from Amazon to arrive.I called Schlage's number (listed in the manual and because it was the weekend, no one answered. Despite leaving a message, no one returned my call. When I called Amazon, they explained that they would exchange it and issued a return label. BUT when I took it to the postal depot, lo and behold, I had to pay for the shipping back to Amazon. $23.07.I came home and called them and was told that the exchange was a "courtesy" because I had purchased it almost 3 years ago. This, despite the wording that it comes with a lifetime warranty! When the new one finally arrived, I had to get my locksmith to come out and install it for me. Another $90.00. Amazon would not reimburse me for the cost of the shipping back to them. Overall, a very disappointing experience. I am going to stop shopping at Amazon.ca because of this and will now shop at Walmart or Costco. Way to go, Amazon!!

No key to carry and no key cylinder to be picked
Installation is easy and simple. For programming, you must remember the program code to enable this feature. It will be easier and more simple if it comes with a button to enable this feature similar to many other such products. The best thing I like is the keyless design. This avoids many intrusions. Of course, it is not temper proof and people can use a drill to overcome this lock.
