Little mint scent packets keep the rodents away.
The neighborhood had a rodent problem over the last 3 years, but for us, mostly outside. Then a few weeks ago, my husband saw a rat in the basement and set traps for it. We got it (our cat felt it was too big to tangle with so I'm glad the trap worked). Then our cat started stalking another rodent that went behind a bookcase and when I looked with a flashlight, I saw it was a small mouse (the cat felt it was more her size and sat in a vigil waiting for the mouse to emerge). My husband put a mousetrap under our microwave cabinet (the cat went to bed, LOL) and we caught the mouse. But the point is, as I didn't want the rodents to get into our food cabinets, I bought these little mint bags and placed them in each cabinet, and the rodents stayed away from the cabinets. The only food available for them was peanut butter and cheese placed on the traps. We also put the packets inside our car trunks for good measure; although we were using a strong vehicular rodent repellent under our car hoods, it didn't hurt to have the additional repellent in the trunks. Recommended.

Do not purchase - they do not work
I had been a long time user of the prior packaging for this item. They worked great. Unfortunately, they changed three things which now render the product useless. The ones I used in the past came in a cardboard package, the packets were individually wrapped, and the pellets were in a nylon type of netting. The new version comes in a resealable plastic bag, they are no longer individually wrapped (which kept the smell strong until use), and the netting is more of a paper type.I wrote to the company to find out why they made these changes as it now renders their product ineffective as the smell which is the deterrent factor to mice not only is less strong to start off with, it does not last more than a couple of days. I was told:"In compliance with our ESG initiative, we have taken into consideration various packaging techniques, such as using less cardboard and plastic".When I saw "ESG", I knew they went the way of so many other companies who put that initiative ahead of the quality of the product they produce. Also, I don't see how they are using less plastic as the size of the plastic bag they now use far outweighs the amount of plastic the individual bags wrappings used.Such a shame to see ESG ruin another product that was very good in its' prior form. Needless to say, I no longer buy them as they don't work and recommend consumers looking at this product do not purchase as you are wasting your money.

Smells Great
These work to deter the mice. I wish the smelled last longer. It was 30 days exactly and I had to replace. The smell is not too overwhelming though

They Might Work ....
As a stand alone rodent deterrent the sachets are pricey. I hang them in the engine compartment of my car and "recharge" them twice a week (Wed & Sun) with a peppermint spray. While at it, I also spray around the engine compartment and just inside the wheels on the axles. So far, it has been working. Previously I've used an electric mousetrap to electrocute mice (actually field voles) that got into my car. Since using the sachet and peppermint spray I haven't electrocuted a single mouse. This is after-no kidding-killing over 25 in two years. I don't know if the sachets are necessary but I think the odor lasts longer than just the peppermint spray. Rodent damage has been expensive for me-generally $300 per pop replacing chewed through wires-it has happened three times to date. Also, they like the cabin air filter space so I check that weekly-the odor would be a dead giveaway.I bought a second batch and they've change. The sachets are paper rather than a gauze and they didn't have tie strings. Also the vole like them-they rip the sachets open!! So it doesn't appear to be a deterrent but as I said I use them with a peppermint spray. I'll probably not buy them again but I will keep spraying with peppermint.

It was effective
I used this product in a storage area where I noticed some rodent droppings. After I cleaned the entire storage, sanitize, and remove all food/drinks, put about 4 pcs of this item, I checked every week for a month to see if the rodents returned. And this product did the job. The storage is about 50 sq ft. I also placed this in my garage where I think the rodents are entering from. It was effective and it did smell nice. It was a natural scent so it wasnt embarrassing when I have guests over, they barely noticed that I had recent rodents visiting my garage. Scent only last for about 2-3 weeks tho, so you will need to replace them constantly.

They changed these and they are not good now
I was buying these regularly for the last couple years for our vacation home. They worked wonderfully in the mesh bags with the ribbons on them to hang them. These new paper pouches do not have nearly the strength and the scent lasted barely a week. Very unhappy that they have changed this product as it was wonderful before.

Good for keeping critters out of the car engine
The peppermint scented sachets were recommended by our mechanic after mice chewed through six wires. Definitely cheaper than car repairs but they do require frequent replacement.
