Economical, practical, and fast
This looks identical to the AnkerĀ® USB 3.0 & eSATA to SATA External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5in HDD, SSD I have been using for 4 years, which is no longer available. It's been great and fast!AnkerĀ® USB 3.0 & eSATA to SATA External Hard Drive Docking Station for 2.5 or 3.5in HDD, SSD [4TB Support]I should note the first KDLinks happened to not power up, sent it back and replaced it. The new one is working just like the Anker. With the right card in the Mac Pro, I am using the eSata feature with ejection for very fast clone backups swapping bare drives. I was able to confirm it works with up to 8TB Toshiba drives - the biggest ones I have.

Good product with a few exceptions
I bought this because my old reader wouldn't let me use anything more than a 2tb. It took me a while to get find something that would work. I found this, I liked it because it allowed Esata, it's the only reason I got this one. Well it didn't work, I'm still not sure if the cord was bad or what. But customer service is very good there, and they sent me a new cord, and told it it could be the bios at fault. And after getting the wire, and tinkering with the bios, it will see the drive, but only if I either load up the system with it on. Or if I do a drive scan. It doesn't make sense to me that my computer can see the drive internally, but not externally, when it's hooked up to the same port. That makes no sense to me at all, unless there is an interface in the unit itself and it's not working as it should.Anyway, in USB 2 mode it does work ok, though it could be faster. I needed a USB 3 card, which after a bit of work, I got it to recognize and it seems pretty fast. It's hard to tell if it's as fast as ESATA, but at least it works. I use this drive as an external back up so it needed to turn on an off.

Esata losses connection all the time, almost like clockwork. Maybe my system just didn't like it, might work for your system....
esata connection is crap, returned it, doesn't keep connection, keeps losing it, and corrupted some data because of it. I was booting from it, needed it so that I wouldn't have to install all my drives in my rig. it has a usb 3.0 option, but I wanted it because of the esata. Otherwise it doesn't work for my needs.. Not sure if it just didn't like my custom ryzen system or not, so I gave it 2 stars (instead of one), because it may work for other systems.

Steampunk Retro
I'm not going to say much about this, because it was so simple to install. Took me about a minute to unbox, plug in the cables, stick the harddrive into the gadget and turn it on. The disk mounted right away and I ran DiskUtilities on it. No problem. It's quiet (as it is just the hard-drive running) and I expect it to run cool as it is in the open air. With my other drive compartment, the drive got really hot - the so-called aluminum enclosure had no fan but was supposed to conduct heat away from the drive. Didn't work. This works a charm and it looks really nice sitting on my desktop - kind of steampunk retro. Well done!

I opted for this product because it is very practical and I could easily use my available drives to use or just backup ...
I own several HDDs that are not in any enclosure (I find it cheaper to buy the drives "naked"). I opted for this product because it is very practical and I could easily use my available drives to use or just backup data whether they be 2.5" or 3.5" in size. It works brilliantly, the drives slot in easily and the data transfer speeds are very good using the USB 3.0 but I found it significantly faster using the e-SATA cable provided. This is a must have for anyone who wants to use enclosure-less drives on the fly. Also it's worth adding that the customer service is excellent and they readily answer email queries.

GREAT DEVICE
I ordered a Vantec CB-ISATAU2 SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter (similar to a Sapient device I have used previously) to clone a 2.5" laptop HDD to a larger capacity drive. I have done this many times, but the Vantec adaptor would not successfully clone the drive. I returned it and immediately ordered the kdLinks USB 3.0/2.0 eSATA 2.5"/3.5" SATA adaptor. It worked perfectly right out of the box, and it was much faster using the eSATA port. I am so impressed with the device that I am going to purchase another to keep in my laptop travel bag.

Rock Solid!
The Kdlinks USB 3.0/2.0 enclosure is rock solid. It works with every drive I put in it. It also works with Acronis True Image boot images, which makes cloning hard drives easy. I like the open bay for swapping out various drives. There is no need to hassle with screws, just plop in a drive and you're on your way!

No Issues
Works as expected with USB and eSATA. Only used to run diagnostics on new drives and occasionally to offload data. Don't know how it would perform if used 24/7.
