The pictures and gorgeous and the story is lovely. Highly recommend this classic.

I read this with my second and third graders. We spent a month on it learning vocabulary and about far away places that Ms. Rumphius went. The students loved it and did not get bored with learning about her goals. This is a very special story about an adventurous lady with a mission.

This was a favorite of our children when they were growing up (I liked it too!). Now we have bought it for our grandson and hope it will be a favorite of his as well.

I bought this book and would lupine seeds from Vermont Wildflower. Sent them out together as Christmas presents to families with young children to do as a family activity. Read the book and plant the seeds

A book to be enjoyed by anyone with a soul.

As a preschool teacher and director for 40 years, I have many favorite children’s books. Miss Rumphius has been on my top five list since the first time I read it many years ago. The book has a rich storyline and an uncle instructs her that it is important to do something to make the world a better place. She sows lupine seeds as she walks and her flowers dot the countryside.

I purchased this book to go along with a unit study we are reviewing. It's a lovely story and reminds me of my life so far, which the kids think is quite amusing (not to mention they also think I'm a bit crazy at times)!This year we've planted wildflower seeds around the neighbourhood and have spent time cleaning up our street for the community to enjoy. What great timing to go along with this book.We love books that have a deeper meaning and something can be learned from them along side a beautiful (and true) story with lovely illustrations. We recommend this book to children between 4 and 10.

My grown up children had been sent this book from the USA when they were small and it has been a part of our lives ever since. All these years later I wanted a copy for a special friend - and was amazed to find it through Amazon. It is a really simple, inspiring story of a lady who wants to make the wolrd more beautiful. I would recommend it to anyone, not just children. I just wish it was available in hardback.

LOVE this book. It's the most beautiful story about travel/the world/and leaving behind a positive legacy. Perfect for ages 7-10. I have since bought this book for two other children and their parents love it so much they have recommended​ it to others.
