Man Up [DVD + Digital]

I like the characters and will put the movie on just to “hang out” with them for the night. Simon Pegg and Lake Bell have great chemistry. You see it in their looks and quick back-and-forths on screen. I introduce this movie to all my friends, and they love it too. It’s funny, tender, reflective of reality. Highly recommend.

Fun RomCom. Well acted. This was my second watch and I'll probably see it again. I now love both of these Stars.

Lake Bell is seriously cool & so incredibly naturally gorgeous, playing next to Simon Pegg’s naturally hilarious and oh so handsome self. It’s a pairing you wouldn’t think you’d fall in love with, but the movie weaves a story so well with characters who I dear themselves to you in such a quirky fun adventure, you’ll want to watch it happen all over again! Buy the Blu-ray, you’ll want to keep it around for those days you need a little pick-me-up. It does the trick!

I admit that I did not expect this movie to be as delightfully romantic as it is.I mean, it's a Simon Pegg movie. He's the guy who made "Shaun of the Dead" and "Paul," after all, and while both were funny and each had an element of romance they were not in any way to be considered sophisticated romantic comedies."Man Up," despite the title, is just that, however, and it's got a nice twist in the narrative. In this movie it's the guy who is overly emotional and the girl who is cynical and slightly sour on the whole dating scene.The fact that Lake Bell is cast as the 34-year-old woman who winds up going on an unexpected date with Pegg was sheer genius. She is wonderful in the role and has great chemistry with Pegg. I'm not much of a rom/com fan but I was really, really hoping they'd get together in the end. That in itself was pretty remarkable since I usually am not invested enough in the characters that populate most of the romantic comedies being produced these days to care one way or the other. An added benefit: The marvelous Harriet Walter plays the mother of Bell's character with a salty attitude. She isn't in many scenes but she owns the ones she's in.Unexpectedly, there are some very tender and some equally poignant scenes in this movie. I like Simon Pegg in almost everything he does - from the "Star Trek" and "Mission Impossible" franchises to his own offbeat comedies - but I would never have thought him capable of bringing such depth to this role.The plot is well thought out; the jokes are not farcical but are, instead, based upon the kinds of things that can happen on a blind date; and the script is tightly written. The direction is smooth without any weird jumps in the action and the scenes flow easily from one into the other.An excellent - if unexpected - movie that I have no trouble recommending.

Lake Bell feels like she’s getting old and life is passing her by when she goes on an accidental date with Simon Pegg. This leads to a comedy of errors in this romance story. Bell and Pegg shine as two frustrated adults unhappy with their situations. That leads to bonding between the two. You know where these types of stories are going so it’s up to the writer to make it interesting. Man Up definitely does that. Especially liked the ending.

I live British comedies and Simon Peg is one of my all time favorite actors. Simon Peg and Lake Bell are absolutely wonderful together and I love the music! Personally, I prefer Lake Bell's American accent over her British accent, but that doesn't cause me to love the movie any less. All the shenanigans that the two of them get up to, makes this movie halarious!

Simon Pegg is in top form with this film! An absolute corker of a comedy about a woman who is supposed to be meeting a blind date but which just happens to be (inadvertently) Simon Pegg.Suffice it to say it is an absolutely brilliant film that is a must watch! I would probably put it in the category of 'chick flick' but it is a feel good film ideal for anyone to watch. I'm giving nothing away apart from that it's a must see film!

Clever and witty dialogue driven rom-com with a little slapstick thrown in, and in the main steers clear of being overly soppy.Simon Pegg has some very witty lines, and Lake Bell is a revelation to me because I've never seen her in anything else before. I thought she was excellent.Couple that with some decent supporting actors ( her father is the most realistic 'tipsy person' I've seen in films) and you have a pretty solid rom-com to wile away a couple of hours. Recommended

OMG where to start?A romabtic comedy at its finest. Simon Pegg at his best. Great, fast paced comedy, very natural and believable connection between the main characters.What stands out most is this was so well written and acted that you're pulled straight in to a believable storyline. This story is also very original and so worth A watch.Highly recommended to all.

This is the best film Simon Pegg has ever made, and he's made a lot of very very good films, Lake Bell as Nancy, is fantastic in Man Up, you would never know she was an American, her British accent is flawless, it's a lovely and very funny film, oh!, and look out for Rory Kinear as Sean, he's very good as well,

Been wanting this for ages since seeing it on TV. Finally decided to buy it and when it arrived I took it out of the case and put it in the DVD storage wallets. Isn't it just bloody typical that the week after I threw away the case so I can't return it, it comes back on the BBC so I could record it!
