This is the perfect leash! I bought it to replace a 4' long leash that gave me backaches when my dog pulled to walk further into the grass from the sidewalk (and me.) This leash is strong, yet has a little give to it when Rover pulls hard. It's good looking AND is not stiff. Right out of the package, it is surprisingly soft on the hands and very flexible--I expected to have to break a leather leash in to have it soft. My only negative about this leash is that it has an odor--it almost smells like an fragrance to cover up another odor. It is not a leather-like smell. The odor stays on my hands after I walk the dog. But I still had to give this leash 5 stars for its perfection in function and its nice feel in my hands. Oh, yeah, I almost forgot: go to the YouTube video about Leatherberg Leashes--the one with the woman talking about the leash--and there's a promo code for 20% off in the notes. UPDATE: After using this leash for over a week, the "deoderizing" smell has dissipated, leaving just a leather smell on the leash--and on my hands afterwards. I still LOVE the leash! UPDATE: Three years later, the leash is as good as new. I'm still loving it.

I bought this leather leash for our new puppy that we will be getting next week. After our last puppy chewed through several nylon leashes, we went straight for a good leather leash to begin with this time. The leather is already very soft and high-quality, it won't need any "breaking in" to become soft and nice. The stitching is solid and heavy, and the clip seems very sturdy. This leash is much better quality than what we can buy at our locally-owned pet store, and one-third the price. The leather leashes they carry are very stiff, and start at $75. This is an excellent price for a very nice leather leash! UPDATE: 2/10/2020 We have used this leash daily for 3 years now and it is still in excellent condition. Still very soft to hold in my hand, yet very strong to hold an enthusiastic Labrador Retriever. I have given this leash as a gift to friends getting a new dog and they love it, too. Very highly recommend!

After many years, our old leather leash started to fray and then ultimately a tear began. We need a good quality replacement as our terrier can often bolt after deer in our area. Though the leach is thinner than the original (1") it is doing well and we are very happy with it. Strongly recommend this product

we have an 8 month old puppy who is 65 lbs and doesn't know his own strength yet. So we took him for training classes and they were using a leather leash on him. Once he was done training we decided to get a leather leash for him. Well we went looking at a few and found one that seemed a little cheap for the price. I didn't want to spend $40 on a leash that looked like it would break. Then we found one at PetCo but it was way too stiff and we didn't like it, seemed a bit plasticy. So when I found Leatherberg I was soo excited because the reviews were amazing. Once I got the Leash in the mail, it did NOT disappoint. We love it so much that we bought 2nd one for our other dog too. They are nice and soft and very strong. The leather makes it easy to grip onto the leash and it doesn't slide through your hands. They are FANTASTIC!

Well constructed leash. I love the rivet and staking around the snap hook. The quality of the leather is excellent. Very responsive feel. Gentle on the hands. This the only leash you will need from a pup to an adult dog. I believe this leash is appropriately priced for the quality leash it is. Prior to this purchase I used a nylon leash. I don't think I will be using that leash anymore. This is my 3 year update. I don’t know how anyone cannot give this leash 5 stars. This is the best leash money can buy. My dog is now 3yrs old going on 4yrs old. 70 lbs German Shepherd. Not once have my confidence in this product even been compromised. This leash is still intact just as the day it was purchased. This is with moderate usage over 3 years. I would buy this leash again and I would recommend it to others also.

It's a good, strong leash that really helps reduce the strain on my arm as my dog is a strong puller. The give in the leash is enough to where I noticed the difference between how my arm felt after a walk with this leash versus our previous leash. It's long enough to let her explore but short enough to where I can get to her very quickly, if need be. She loves the taste of that leather though so we may have to invest in a new one relatively soon. I wish these were thicker so that my power chewer dog couldn't bite through them so quickly but it's holding on for right now. Note to seller: The threading is starting to come apart where the leather meets the metal link and it's not due to the chewing---how can I prevent it from undoing itself further?

So far, we really like this leash. As an equestrian, I have an appreciation for nice leather, and this leash was nice and soft right out of the box. The clip and stitching are sturdy. I feel like the leather leash has a bit of forgiving "give" when our pup hits the end of it that saves my shoulder from the worst of the yank, but I don't have any worries about it breaking. While our pup is only 4.5 months old and ~30 lbs, he will be double that when he is full grown. I feel like this leash will last us a long time and will only get more pleasant to the hand as time goes on. It's a classy, well made tool and we're very happy so far.
