11 months later, not working.
Updated: 11/7/22We plug it in for the first time of the season about a week ago and it worked great! Did its job! Today it is no longer working. Absolutely no heat is coming from the element despite the light being on and doing all the troubleshooting. Very disappointed for something so expensive to not work less than a year later. I have put in a request to talk to someone at the warranty department so hopefully they will honor their warranty and help us fix this issueWe purchase this because we have a significant problem with ice buildup by our front door. The way our house was designed was stupid and we will get a block of ice right in front of the front door. Even with salt and like it is extremely hard to manage. I saw this online after hearing about ones for stairs. We decided we'd take the plunge and worst case scenario if it wasn't working, we could always return it. This thing melted the ice block in front of our front door in less than 24 hours. And that was with temperatures not getting above freezing! I am shocked. So far it has been extremely durable and believe it or not we actually have our metal grate that we use for clearing snow off our shoes on top of it. It immediately melts the snow under the grate and is very sturdy. This is seriously a game changer! I might save money to put these all across my front porch lol. We are definitely considering the stair add-ons! We have recommended it to our friends in the area as well. I'm not lying when I say that this was still efficient at negative 7 fahrenheit! That's about -22 Celsius if you are like the rest of the world and use the metric system. I highly recommend this item. I also love that as an on-off switch for the days that it's above freezing we can just shut it off. I haven't noticed a significant increase in our electrical bill either when we run it. Definitely a worthy investment

No Ice or Snow
Used this electric mat during the most recent ice storm and it worked exactly as described. Customer service answered a question quickly to clarify an issue not described in the manual. So far, so good. I plan to unplug when the weather is pleasant and replug when the forecast is for ice or snow. Hopefully it wont get pilfered.

Does the job, no maintenance. Love it.
I am using them both for safety by my back door and for my feral kitties by their food area. They work great. Easy to use. Great variety of sizes for different areas.

It works, but it takes a long time to heat up
We finally had our first major snow that made it OK to put this out on the porch. Front door faces north and if there's wind & blowing snow drifting up, we can't get the front storm door open. Well, the mat never heated up. It turns out the cord is VERY hard to get it pushed in. Another review recommended oiling it, but that's dangerous considering you have electricity flowing. After the snow melted we tried pushing in the cord with all our might and finally we have a heated mat for the next time. We'll keep the extension cord & power cord attached, so no struggling for future snows. It's weird that this takes a LONG time to heat up. It took an entire hour plugged in before we could feel the heat with our bare hands, and even then, it's not all that warm. We're still not sure if this is a defective mat since others say it gets so hot your pet wouldn't be able to stand or sit on it. The way our mat is, I can hold my hand on it for 15 minutes or longer and it's never that hot.Note: The HeatTrak online guide says there's a shiny side and a gritty side of the mat. That the gritty side is supposed to be facing up. When I put my hand against the gritty side vs. the shiny side, the shiny side is *much* warmer. Maybe the online instruction guide is wrong? Not sure.If there were other brands that were the same quality, I'd probably try a different brand. There's another sold here, it starts with a V, but their instructions say you can't leave it plugged in more than 24 hours. What good is that!!! I'll stick with HeatTrack for now since you can have it plugged in indefinitely. The HeatTrak is made in Mexico.

Warmer than expected
I got the smallest size due to price but its big enough for my two small dogs to stand on to warm up their paws from the snow. Its warmer than the 40 degrees above temp they mention. I step out on it barefoot sometimes to coax the snow loving pups in and on a 0-10 degree day it feels just like stepping on the floor in the 70 degree house. On 30 degrees its noticeably warm, but comfortable warm, no too warm. Works perfect for my goal of making sure the dogs can warm their toes if i’m distracted for a few minutes when they’re ready to come back in. If it was cheaper i would make something for the stray cats around but at that price i can’t afford it.

Quit working after one use
First use, this mat with its power cord worked perfectly - we were so pleased we ordered a companion mat (same brand) as our Christmas gift to each other. Today I connected both mats preparing for upcoming snow and ice storms only to find the POWER CORD NO LONGER WORKS. BOTH mats are useless without the company’s special power cord. Replacement cord can be ordered but it’s $50. Who knows if it’s also a one-use rip off? Very disappointed!!
