Great for the money.
Had a plain spruce top Ovation with the standard sound hole from the 80's to mid 90s. Wound up giving it to a relative who still has it. Saw one of these slightly used at a local store for an outrageous price. Did the usual internet search which led me here. Have not been disappointed. Still has the best plugged in sound of any acoustic. Not bad acoustically either. Very comfortable to hold and has the same old comfortable Ovation neck. Great looking guitar as well. Did change the strings to my usual Martin Silk & Steel 11.5-47 gauge. The sound really came alive then

Ovation Celebrity CE 48-1
This guitar is absolutely beautiful, the super shallow depth was concerning when i ordered it, but all that was taken away when it arrived at my door, right out of the box , played perfectly, excellent tone, this guitar is worth the price , you will not be disappointed, This a Ovation CE 48-1 sunburst, Many thanks to Amazon and Firehouse Music in Michigan for making it possible, you will love this beautiful acoustic guitar. Hope this helps!

Junk
Neck warped . Couldn't get a refund from seller. It eventually a year later split the wood up by neck. Would not ever buy again

I ordered this guitar because it was on pretty much half price as a warehouse deal. What a hell of a great deal I ended up getting. Arrived in excellent condition, everything works and after a quick tuning of the strings it plays great and sounds awesome! If you are in the market for an Ovation this is one of the better ones with the super shallow body. It doesn't sit too far away from your body, very similar to an electric guitar feel with a very solid acoustic sound. And the looks? I love the sunburst, it's gorgeous!

I don't need to say anything about Ovation guitars. It's beauty and build quality is only surpassed by it's beautiful sound. What surprised me was how little protection surrounded the guitar. A simple triangular box with one or two folded pieces of cardboard prevented the guitar to move within the box but seriously...one errant kick or drop and this thing would definitely be damaged. I took the chance knowing I could return it if it was indeed damaged but thankfully that didn't happen.

First of all it's a beautiful guitar to look at and the super shallow body wasn't a problem to hold after some position adjustments. I'm a fingerstyle performer and I always play seated and with an acoustic amp with some reverb, chorus and delay. When I connected to the amp and played a chord I was totally blown away at how this guitar sounds and how it resonates. It's important to note that unplugged the guitar lacks the volume of a traditional acoustic guitar. The necks satin finish and shape is extremely comfortable and the action is perfect . I did remove one of two shims under the saddle to lower the action . No adjustment needed for neck relief. I have to admit I was hesitant with the non - traditional acoustic body but now I am so glad I made this choice I will definately buy another Ovation in the future.

As someone who sets up and repairs guitars and owns a collection of over 10 guitars, I’m thoroughly impressed by the Celebrity Elite CE48. The Tonal Reality (Important Comparison): Acoustic Projection: To be clear, if you are looking for that booming, deep, full-bodied resonance of a traditional dreadnought, this super-shallow body isn't going to get you there unplugged. A full-size dreadnought is naturally louder and has more low-end "thump." In the Mix: However, that's the advantage of this guitar. It has a unique, focused presence that cuts through a studio mix without the muddy low-end build-up. It occupies a different sonic space, sounding more full than a parlor guitar but more "controlled" than a dreadnought. Build & Playability: Action & Neck: Straight out of the box, the neck was perfect. No fret sprout or buzz, and the action is low enough to play like an electric guitar. The cutaway access is excellent for lead work. Ergonomics: The roundback can slide if you're sitting without a strap. I recommend propping up a leg or using a strap; once you adjust your posture, the comfort is unmatched. Electronics & Tuning: Pickup: The OP-4BT preamp is exceptionally clean and rivals high-end Fishman systems. Plugged in, you would never notice the lack of body depth; the electronics handle the heavy lifting. Stability: I’ve had this for a while, and the top is solid with no stress-lifting (I maintain 45-50% humidity in my studio). It stays in tune remarkably well, even after long sessions. Technical Note for Builders: The truss rod is easily accessible through the dedicated panel on the back of the bowl—very straightforward for maintenance. Verdict: I reach for this more than my expensive traditional acoustics. It's the perfect bridge for electric players who need a reliable, feedback-resistant stage guitar. This guitar is guaranteed a conversation piece.
