Great book- both my 11 year old (boy and girl) twins loved it and wanted to read the next in the series. Gripping.

My daughter who is 12 loved it and now wants the rest of the series.

Before I purchased the book, I wasn't sure if I'd like it much considering it was the author's first. I have to admit, it was a bit slow starting and I struggled to get into it but I stayed with it and got hooked. The story line was really imaginative and even though it wasn't realistic it felt completely normal like it's something that could happen in the future to the human race as it stands now. Parts were predictable, but I think that's hard to achieve with a book from this genre. All in all, it was a good read and I enjoyed the book and I will be purchasing the sequel when it's released later this year as this book is left on a cliff hanger and I can't wait to see how the story is developed and where it leads. My only criticism would be that all the main characters are so young and yet they seem to be so mature for their age in their conversations and actions. However, this didn't spoil the narrative and I still enjoyed the book.
