Small pill, easy to take, and from everything I read, milk thistle works to improve liver function. Albeit pure powder, other stuff I used prior to buying this definitely worked, per my blood tests.

My liver "ALT" and "AST" were continuously increasing after being on many heart medications. According to my primary doctor, normal ALT level should be between 7 and 40 U/L and mine was 50 U/L. She was so concerned that she ordered an ultrasound of my liver. I researched and found that primarily alcohols, grains (wheat), and sugars are the most difficult on the liver. Supposedly Milk Thistle helps cleanse as well as black coffee, and special teas with dandelion root and tumeric (and other ingredients). One week after stopping consumption of wheat and sugar, stopping my Statin drug, adding this Milk thistle daily and adding "tea for liver" at night in addition to black coffee during the day my ALT went to 40 U/L in one week. In three weeks my ALT was in the middle of the normal range at 21 U/L. Although I attacked the problem with a 5 prong approach, I have zero doubt that this Milk Thistle was very instrumental and probably at least 1/5th responsible for getting my liver back to normal for the first time in at least 2 years. Removing wheat and sugar (thank you Dr. William Davis, cardiologist, author of "Wheat Belly") was probably the largest contributor. This also enabled me to lose 3 pounds per week for the entire 5 weeks so far (without wheat, sugar) and without any added exercise. As another added bonus, without wheat and sugar, my glucose (89) and A1c (5.0) have become normal and healthy as well as my tryglycerides (60). BTW, the ultrasound of my liver was fine and my primary doctor was thoroughly impressed how quickly and easily I fixed my liver and other problems!!!
