The Antiquities of Athens: Measured and Delineated by James Stuart and Nicholas Revett, Painters and Architects Hardcover – April 18, 2008

This is a reprint of the classic work by Stuart and Revett. The work has been reprinted multiple times and is currently available from a variety of publishers. All essentially contain the same set of plates from the set of volumes which trickled out over decades as the means were derived for publication.I consider this to be the best I have seen of the current offerings for several reasons. First and foremost is the quality of the paper and printing. Second is the quality of the binding - hardbound and sturdy. Third is the relative cost of the book. Although more expensive than many other editions, the quality, I believe, justifies the additional expense.If one wishes a copy for one's library which can be used on a regular basis as well as ornamenting one's shelves, this is the copy to purchase.

This book is well worth the money paid for it. It’s a vital contribution to the study of historic architecture; more specifically the Greek Revival style in England and the USA. It provides a key link between those built in America and Ancient Greece. There are paperback versions available but the photocopies are terrible and many of the drawings completely illegible. The book arrived promptly and was well-packed. Thank you very much!

The book had some damage to it, and it was the only one, so I couldn't exchange it. I paid $125, so it shouldn't have been in better shape.

My son is in architecture school and was constantly borrowing this book from the library. He was very excited to finally own it. He says it is an invaluable resource.

Book is in very good condition. It's not as good as I expected.

For the last 2 weeks I read this book eagerly.With my fantasy i travel in the year 1768 when the ancient city of Athens was undiscovered.My guide was this Book and the fabulous lithographic pictures.The first look of the these ancient ruins by Stuart and Revett and the full details of the monuments,such the text,reveal the ancient world of the City of Athens and specially the sculptures of the Temple of Minerva (Parthenon).

This is a great book full of detailed drawings and printed to a great standard.

Ausgabe: Erstausgabe Priceton Architectural Press 2008, in schwarzem Leinen gebunden mit Schutzumschlag.Bindung und Verarbeitung ordentlich. Leider zur Originalausgabe von John Haberkorn deutlich in der Größe reduziert.Dadurch wirken die Drucke verschwommen. Maßangaben der technischen Zeichnungen kaum lesbar.Trotzdem noch brauchbar für den schnellen Überblick. Aber leider kein Vergleich mit den ursprünglichen Kupferstichen.Preis/ Leistung aufgrund der geringen Auflage sicher in Ordnung
