Kind of embarrassing but we have 3 flights of stairs in our house so we own SIX of these! We have had them for years and they’re wonderful. The gate can open and close with your hand or foot (which is very handy!), they’re easy to install and easy to use, the black one looks decent with my home decor, and they’re pretty substantial in terms of sturdiness and size. We have a XL dog, a 3 year old, and a 1.5 year old and all 6 have held up great. I do recommend a wall nanny though for the ones that get a lot of usage. We have 1 cheaper version that was on sale and I hate it because the quality of the other brand isnt even close to these. I recommend spending a tiny bit more and getting these ones if you’re looking for quality and durability and ease of opening.

Becoming new grandparents means solving safety problems we didn’t know we had. Our grandson is crawling and soon walking. Bedroom on second floor. So getting a gate that fit a 43” wide opening and works with elaborate molding and beneath the handrail was all very challenging. This product was the answer. Best of all, it didn’t require putting holes in the wall. We can put up the gate when our grandson visits and take it down when he leaves. Very easy!The kit also comes with the hardware to screw it into the walls. The attachment looks secure and easy to install. Perfect for a home that will need this kind of gate for years instead of a couple weeks per year.

Gate works just as advertised. Feels sturdy and looks nice also. We use to keep 10 pound dogs from getting out door to garage. Not sure if a child could push and loosen it. Cups hold it well especially if use screws. We used the whole width. Smaller opening makes gate Evan stronger.

1st, The Gate was rugged and common sense to install. However, near the top latch of the gate, you remove a factory installed steel cable which holds vertical support and gate together. When this cable was removed, our gate had a "positive X-Y axis deflection" which tilted our top stair rail post outward about 1/4". If the screw adjustment was decreased to allow the Stair Post to return to "True Vertical"; the latch wouldn't lock as designed. 2nd due to our base board that meets our carpet, I had to raise the gate about 2 3/4 inches. This became a cautionary issue as stair Risers are typically 7 1/4" to 7 5/8" high. The additional horizontal support rail increase the step height to nearly 10". Hence the Yellow Caution tape (bottom rail) and the Caution Label on the top rail. See supplied photo's.

We have two dogs and a baby and we needed something to keep both of them where they need to be. This is in our living room doorway so we wanted something that looked nicer. This gate is amazing! Swings closed behind you (it is a little loud when closing) and can stay open when needed but looks so sleek and clean. This gate looks like it would be very expensive but is a great price! We will be buying more in the future

Overall the gate performs as we need. In our situation, I had to make a spacer block to fit the bottom support against the wall to compensate for the railing. Quality of the product is very good. I had enough parts with the gate to make it work with a little bit of ingenuity. NOTE: When coming down the stairs, it's cumbersome having to step around/over the lower support bar. Be sure to hang on to your railing for balance. With practice, it will get easier.UPDATE: I designed a simple cover over the bottom support bar to reduce tripping on the downward climb. The board does NOT rest on the bar, it has two spacer supports on the front and back that make a tunnel to cover and protect the bar. The cover board is 21"L x 10"W for reference. This addon much improved the safety while egressing thru the gate. Also, I changed my rating to 5 stars since it was fairly easy to make all of this work. Plus, when we are done using the gate, it can be removed without any patchwork since the gate is secured in place with only the adjusters. Happy we did this !!

Very impressed with the quality of the gate. I ordered the brown color. Attractive and goes well with my decor. I purchased two to keep a mischievous puppy confined and safe. Easy access to be able to go in and out of gate to enter other rooms. Love it

The gate is made with high quality materials and looks attractive. I installed is using pressure mounts with one side against the metal banister and the other a base board and wall. Pretty easyTo install however when the extension screws are inserted the first thing you need to do is spin the plastic washer away from the hole to allow the screw fit the space then use metal tool to tighten. The gate was extremely tight and sturdy once properly in place. The gate must be tight for the latch to work properly. I acutely called customer service and they sent me a 9 second video to show the washer spinning away from the hole and that made the difference in the installation.
