Mrs. GrassHomestyle Chicken Noodle Hearty Soup Mix (5.93 Ounce, Pack of 8)

We used to buy this in a "can" on the grocery store but haven't been able to find it in stores for years. Thanks Amazon for making this available once again. Super easy to make, just add water, some beef and/or vegetables and it makes a hearty soup for cold winter nights. My FAVORITE beef vegetable soup!

My family has enjoyed Mrs. Grass Homestyle Beef Vegetable soup for many years. Seven years ago, when the only grocery store in our area that carried it closed, I was pleased to find it available on Amazon and started ordering it and Chicken Noodle regularly. My young daughter started referring to it as "box soup" because it's the soup that arrives on the doorstep in a box and the name stuck. However, I am sad to report that like other reviewers, my latest order of Beef Vegetable box soup arrived with all of the pouches compromised. It appears to be the result of a defect in Heinz's packing process. The Chicken Noodle I ordered had no problems and all the pouches fit nicely into the box. The Beef Vegetable pouches, on the other hand, did not fit so nicely in the box. It's like something went wrong with the packing process, maybe too much air sealed into the pouches or the soup mix being allowed to settle to the bottom before being inserted into the box. Whatever happened, the pouches were too big to fit into the box nicely and appear to have been forcefully inserted, causing the seals of the pouches to rupture, ejecting air and soup mix into the box. Disappointing. Given that multiple people have had this problem, I didn't bother with a replacement order. I got a refund. Maybe I'll try again later... or not.UPDATE (9/22/2023): I did, in fact, try again a few months later and the box I received did not have any issues. The pouches were stacked differently inside the box and all were perfectly sealed. I was happy to see this because my family enjoys this product.

Many people, including myself grew up on this soup. It was one of the few vegetables I looked forward to as a kid. This is my favorite vegetable soup, and I pretty much judge all others against it. Unfortunately, it has become increasingly difficult to find this product in my area. In fact, I can't find it at all. It was refreshing to stumble across it here on Amazon. I had not previously purchased more than one bag at a time when I wanted it. But after ordering it in bulk, I found a few other uses for it.Normal Use- This soup is great just by itself. Add water and you are good to go. But it is best if you add your own touch to it. I suppose each family has their own way of using it. I like to add stew meat (as per the instructions), and also a little extra carrot, celery, potatoes that I have on hand. You could pretty much add any vegetable, or even some canned tomato product to make it just how you like it. It's an awesome launch pad for perfect vegetable beef soup.Camping- It is a great camping food to take along. Take along some frozen stew meat, a carrot, a potato, etc. Brown the meat in a dutch oven over some coals, throw in the sliced vegetables and let it simmer for an hour. Your friends will be amazed wondering how you made such a great soup without a bunch of vegetables, and spices. It's super easy and fills you up with some tasty warm nutritious food on chilly nights.Prepping/Food Storage- This is a shelf stable food that lasts a very long time just sitting in the pantry. It is also easy to use by just adding water. Perfect for emergencies, or times when you may be unable to get to the store. If you can simmer water, you can have a satisfying meal for the whole family with this stuff.Potlucks- I hate those times when at the last minute I remember I have a potluck to do at work the following day. No problem. Get the large crockpot out of the cupboard. Cook it however you like it that night, then store in the fridge. Throw it in the crock pot the next day an hour or so before the time. Just add some paper bowls, bag of oyster shaped crackers, and plastic spoons and you'll be bringing home an empty crockpot.This really is a very versatile great tasting soup. Perfect item to have on hand!!!

I think this Mrs Grass homestyle chicken noodle soup is the best semi- instant soup on the market. The problem is, they don't sell it locally near me. I usually stick it in the crock pot with a couple frozen chicken breasts in 6 hours later I shred up or cut up the chicken and I have soup. But, one could also cook it on the stove and dump in a can of chicken and it makes great soup then too. When you're sick it is so much better than Campbell's

I use this as a base for stew. I just add in my beef cubes, potatoes, onions and carrots and it comes out great.

I have bought several eight packs of this product. At first I did not like it at all, because there is too much parsley and carrots in their recipe. But at that time it was the only chicken noodle soup that I could get my hands on. However, we have to make do with what we have, and I discovered through experimentation that it is really excellent when you add veggies and chicken. You then have to add more water of course, or else the soup will be too thick. The noodles are of a surprisingly good quality, and they hold up well throughout this process.

I love this item. It's hard to find in stores so I order it from Amazon I try to order it monthly in both. My family and I love it also we love Amazon they have Swift delivery and the delivery people are very nice. Also a great price. Thank you.

I don’t buy many mixes for soups but I stumbled onto this one and it’s the best!!! I add beef and a small can of mixed veggies and it’s just like homemade! Highly recommend!!
