A STUNNING TALE OF OBSESSION, BETRAYAL, AND MURDER. FIVE WILDLY APPLAUDING STARS!
No one writes psychological suspense thrillers like N. L. Hinkens, and she's outdone herself with this gem! I've read several of her books, and I thought I had the plot all figured out this time. To be honest, I was even a bit disappointed toward the end, because it wasn't turning out the way I'd hoped it would. But then--WOW! My smug complacency was struck with a stunning twist that nearly made me drop my Kindle! How does the author think of this stuff, anyway? I'm so glad she does, because her books always take me on a thrilling ride. The "ride" in this book is on a Caribbean cruise ship--the Diamond of the Waves--for a celebration of Doug and Allison Robinson's tenth wedding anniversary. I've never been on a cruise ship, so I enjoyed the immersive experience of fabulous dining, on-board entertainments, luxurious accommodations, on shore excursions in exotic locations, and lots of sunny relaxation. But there's nothing relaxing about this cruise! Tension steadily mounts as Allison is swept into undercurrents of deception that make her question her own sanity, as well as the motives of the handsome man who professes to love her. It's a chilling tale of two men who are so obsessed with lust for the ship's enchanting singer that they'll do anything to possess her--including murder.I'll go no further, because nothing should spoil your enjoyment of this exciting journey. Buy a boarding pass, start your voyage, and hold tight to the ship's railing through all the unexpected twists and turns ahead. Be sure to watch for that final big shock, or you might fall overboard! (Or drop your Kindle in the water). As always, oceans of thanks to the author and her team for flawless editing and proofreading. This perfect cruise easily earns five stars and MY HIGHEST RECOMMENDATION!

BOMBSHELL CONCLUSION
Allison's husband Doug booked a Caribbean cruise to celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary. Other than going to work, Allison has barely left the house in the past six months; not since the sudden death of their baby daughter Ava. (She would have been almost eight months old now, if she lived.) Turns out Doug is a player & got caught making a move on the hottest woman on the ship. Allison goes missing, but CCTV footage confirms she hadn't left her cabin. There's a strong possibility she fell overboard. Did Allison take her own life? She had been a very unhappy woman with a history of depression & a prior suicide attempt. Did Doug bump off his wife? Why else would he take his suicidal wife on a cruise & book a cabin on the tenth floor? Did he drug Allison & shove her over the railing of their balcony into the depths of the ocean? Did she become shark chum? This house of cards will come tumbling down with a disturbing twist to an already sordid tale.

Awesome as always
I love the characters that are ALWAYS relatable and well developed in Ms Hinkens books. Her plots are well thought out but this one IN PARTICULAR had several shockaroonies at the end! Loved it (though I was until 3 OCLOCK reading!) Lol

Meh..
The reviews enticed me to read this. Not the best read. Too much nonessential detail for my taste. Bottom line... a quick mindless way to spend a cold afternoon

Good story
This was definitely suspenseful! Of course, the first person we always suspect is the husband, but the ending to this story was not what I suspected! Good job on the twist at the end, it was great! Now readers have to get and read this book to find out what the twist was!

Great story! Kept me in suspense until the end!
This book, and the other ones I have read by N.L. Hinkens, get me hooked from the start and keeps me in suspense until the very end! There have been many times with other authors where I just skim the pages because it was boring, but that has not happened with the three books I have read so far. I am looking forward to starting the next one!

Great suspense at sea
The Cabin Below by N. L. Hinkins was a fun suspense novel. It starts on a 10th anniversary getaway cruise to celebrate Allison's and Doug's 10th anniversary. It is also a way to reconnect after losing their 2 month old daughter, Ava. Upon boarding the couple met Sophia and Cody, another couple celebrating their anniversary too. They suggest dinner together and the two couples hit it off. They two couples spend the majority of the trip doing various activities together. Throughout this time, little things begin to happen and as the cruise continues they become more and more dangerous. Allison is said to be depressed and confused. It is alluded to that she is suicidal and has been taking antidepressants since the death of her daughter. As the couples get closer it does not seem as if Doug is as devoted as he pretends to be. Sophia and Allison become closer and Allison confides in her that she thinks Doug is trying to kill her and may be having an affair. Not soon afterwards, Allison disappears, supposedly having thrown herself overboard. With many a twist and turns, the novel meets a devilish conclusion and the guilt finally get what they have coming or do they? Really enjoyed this novel and readily recommend it.
