Kanto BENBLU 5-inch Passive Coaxial Speakers (Blue Matte) - Pack of 2

No bass, slightly annoyingly bright highs but amazing separation and imaging. You need to add a sub and listen to these WAY off axis but for under a hundred bucks you can't beat the looks and clarity.

So I bought these quite awhile ago and posted a review that i don't think I ever updated... which is good because since then Kanto had been great with following up with me in insuring I got top service.These little guys i have hooked up to a small stereo amp and a Pro-Ject Carbon turntable, and I'm extremely pleased with the sound. Obviously, they would be much better with a small sub to go along with them, but I find they are quite pleasing on their own and can handle an ample output. They come packaged extremely well and include small rubber feet if required. The binding posts are great, especially if you decide to use banana plugs. You don't usually see that on speakers this small.Best thing is that Kanto's customer service as exemplary. The listing is for a pair and I only received one. After a call to their office they shipped me the other speaker. About a year later, one of my kids decided to push the "shiny button" in the middle of the speaker (AKA the tweeter). I actually live in Vancouver, near their HQ and they told me to come in and swap it. I originally only asked where I could get a replacement tweeter for a DIY repair and they went above and beyond my expectations.I love the color of the blue, matches pretty close to the blue PJ carbon blue, except not glossy.

It's a pity these are discontinued. For the price, they are definitely 5-star speakers. At first, I was a bit disappointed by an overall lack of clarity and presence. But after a week of playing pink noise through them at night, they really opened up. Vocals that once sounded hollow and trapped inside the speaker now project out in front of the speakers and have more clarity and balance. Both the treble and bass have improved. In fact, last night I was remarking how good the bass sounded with my subwoofer to complete the sound, then realized my subwoofer was unplugged, and all that bass was coming from these little Ben speakers. They didn't sound that good on the first day, but really sounded great after a break-in period. They will not rattle the floor, and you will need a subwoofer to get the very low end, but they do present a full sound once broken in. And you can drive them with a little class-d amplifier and use a relatively inexpensive powered subwoofer to complete a very affordable, very impressive system. It's great for my office. If you want full sound in a large living room, spend more. But for the price and size, they will really surprise you. Based on these, I would consider larger Kanto speakers for my next living room system, and that's quite a recommendation coming from a self-proclaimed "golden ear" audiophile snob.

I agree with the other reviewers that these have little bass or treble and quite a bit of midrange. The bass I expected given the size and sealed enclosure. The treble I was a bit disappointed by. Overall these are not very musical but I am also an audiophile of sorts. No pluck sound on guitar, no nasality or nuance on vocals, etc. They don't sound bad and my plan is to put them into a larger enclosure. I expected the outer ring to be removable (rubber) but it seems glued in place so that may stifle my plans. Get these if you are more interested in aesthetics, or if you're just wanting some background music say in your office or business. I think for that they would be great.

At first glance, these speakers appear to be a single driver in an enclosure. But if you look carefully, it's actually a mid-range with a tweeter mounted in the center. This "coaxial" design is similar to what is used in automobiles and is perfect for saving space without sacrificing sound quality. These speakers do not have a lot of bass but would work extremely well with a subwoofer. They are quite attractive to look at and would work very well in a dorm room or man cave.

Despite a few shipping issues and mishaps, these speakers eventually arrived, in a PAIR!They better in real life than in photos, and I admittedly got them because they have a real Scandinavian look to them.Sound wise, they are really beautiful, but fatiguing. They tilted towards treble, so don't expect club sound, but smooth and clean goodness. Some won't like.Get a cheap class D amp with a bass boost function if you'd like, for a more mellow sound when needed, and you're set.

I ordered this item expecting a pair of speakers however I only received one in the box. I contacted Amazon and unfortunately they seem to think that there are two speakers per box and not just the one. So i contacted Kanto support and they instantly knew of the problem and took care of the issue right away. It took less than 4 hours to get the issue resolved so I will give Kanto A+ for their support team.As far as the sound is concerned they sound really good for the price and form factor. A bit bright but I would say no brighter than a Klipsch speaker. I am using them on my desk for my computers and the near field sound is great the coaxial design keeps the sound nice and tight no need to worry about the mid's and highs not mixing together properly at the short distance. The brightness is actually a plus when using them in the way that I am if it bothers you then you can always EQ the highs down a bit. I purchased them in the orange matte and the finish and color are just awesome I absolutely love them.

These are efficient small speakers easy to drive. I believe they are 4ohm. I am currently driving one of these with anSmsl sa-50. with this setup I can hear a very faint hum when no music is playing but it does not get any louder so only very quiet music listening would be affected. another reviewer stated that they received only one speaker and they thought they were going to get a pair. it would be worth ascertaining how many speaker you are getting and the price before ordering. there was a problem with my order and that was resolved to my satisfaction.Kudos to Amazon customer support.

I am currently using these with a topping TP 21 amplifier, as a pair of reference monitors. ( I'm not rich) The imaging is ok, and they force you to leave some space for the bass, as they are challenged in the low end. Anything slightly shrill, is more than obvious. They are at least good as some form of 'Reality check' monitors; and I do think that if I can can make my mainly acoustic music sound good on them, It will sound good on most setups. We shall see.

They sound good and look good but you are only getting 1 when you order this. Kind of misleading when it says pair ....

The BENs sound great (zReviews on youtube did a good job testing them out). I have them up with the BENs using the Kanto mounting kits for them as Atmos overhead speakers pointed at the main listening position. The imaging is spot on, they are constructed solid. Very happy with them.

As others here, I only received one of the pair I ordered but Kanto was very quick to rectify that once I contacted them. The speakers sound and look great! Very happy.

These little units pack a punch they are very good quality great fit and finish and sound great a lot of value in a small package

You need a subwoofer for these speakers. They do not produce any bass. They are very small though so this makes up for some of the lack of bass

Bought to use as rear home theatre speakers. They sound amazing. Every visitor comments on the sleek look.

I just purchased the speakers yesterday, but only received one...I am very disappointed, I hope I can get the second one soon and I see that this is a re occurring issue looking at the user reviews...For the most part the one speaker does sound amazing and I hope I can get the second one soon
