I don't love the taste but use it in bean dishes to make them more digestible. This particular brand is ground finer (which I like) than what I was using before and the taste is more pungent. People use it to replace onions and garlic. I add only a dash or two because the taste is strong and my palette is sensitive.

I bought this trying to replace garlic and onion from our diets, as someone in my household needed to follow Low-FODMAP. It was a game-changer, it made food very tasty and frankly I enjoyed not having to peel/chop onions and garlic for a while.Now, THE SMELL. It is very potent, but don't let it deter you from using it! I keep mine in the little bag it came, and put it inside a recycled salsa jar.Put it in your pan with hot oil, around the same time you'd add your aromatics. It's important to let it cook and start using it in moderation while you learn how to use it.This is not a seasoning you could sprinkle on top or use raw, because it can be really overpowering, specially if it's not part of your local cuisine.All in all, I'm very happy I discovered it and will buy again!

This is gluten-free Hing (asafoetida powder) we use in our Indian meal preparation.Works and smells like regular one. Be sure to transfer this to airtight jar.

We got this powder twice, first time was good. However, the second time the powder had more fenugreek powder that gives bitter taste to the food that we add this powder to.

Spices take years to use up and this one has an expiration date in two months. Not cool!

Tested it with Nima which detected gluten. The product jeopardizes the safety of Celiac patients with inaccurate claim of being gluten free.

I loved the taste of this hing compared to other brands I have used.

This hing is pretty good. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because there were a few large rock-like chunks that weren’t ground enough.
