Tillman 1480 TIG welding Gloves +++++
I found my first set of Tillman 1480 TIG gloves by accident at my local welding shop. I do general mechanic work and fabrication as a hobby and had gone through several pairs of the "Mechanix" gloves very quickly. At ~$25/pair that was getting expensive!I saw a pair of Tillman gloves and though they would be twice the price of the Mechanix gloves, boy was I pleasantly surprised to find out that they didn't cost more than the synthetic Mechanix gloves, but that they cost about HALF as much and were made from REAL leather. Since that time I have gone through a few more pairs of the Tillman gloves, but they last 3-4 times longer (or more) than any pair of Mechanix gloves, and cost HALF as much. The stitching is better, the elastic back gives a good fit, and the velcro wrist closure keeps them on comfortably, and keeps chips/debris/hot sparks out. The reinforced palm and thumb make them durable, although I always seem to wear out the index finger tip and thumb first, but that's to be expected, that's where most of the wear is.They are great for MIG and TIG welding, grinding, plasma cutting, and general mechanical work. They do have an elastic back, so if you are doing some very hot welding, get a pair of full leather gloves. They have saved my fingers from burns (oops... that was still HOT!), cuts and scrapes. The 1475 gloves are a little thicker than the 1480. The 1480s will last a bit longer before they wear through, but there is a slight decrease in dexterity. That being said, the dexterity is still great compared other generic work gloves. The 1480 gloves are made from a very nice soft leather and the dexterity is great, you can pick up a washer off the table, or grasp a thin welding rod very easily.I always buy several pair at a time to make sure I always have a pair handy. Don't buy another pair of Expen$ive Mechanix gloves, "Fabricator" gloves, etc. Try a pair of Tillman gloves. For around $10/pr, you'll be happy you did.

But far superior to any and all mechanix gloves I've tried
Most of the time, order size smaller. They tend to stretch and become loose fitting. But far superior to any and all mechanix gloves I've tried. Usually cheaper too.
