Not just for athletes!
I am not an athlete but I love cookbooks and was intrigued by one of the recipes from another Feed Zone cookbook that I saw in a magazine. So I ordered this cookbook specifically for "Family- Style Meals to Nourish Life and Sport".I especially like the compact size of the cookbook-fits comfortably on my lap and is easy to maneuver the pages. I am enjoying the photographs and sometimes step by step instructions. The photographs make me want to try out the recipes.I've made two so far-the "Cinnamon Shortbread Cookies" and the "Mixed Bean Curry".One of the author's, I assume Bijou Thomas calls the Shortbread recipe his interpretation of biscochitos. I've had the pleasure of eating traditional biscochitos which are delicious but since they are made with lard cannot be good for cholesterol counts. The shortbread in this cookbook reminds me more of shortcake than shortbread! In fact, that is how I used it with strawberries and whipped cream heaped on squares of the Shortbread. The resulting strawberry shortcake was outstanding!Next I made the recipe for "Mixed Bean Curry". The author states "that cooked beans will give this dish a superior texture and flavor" but proceeds to give the recipe with canned beans. Yuck for the canned beans. Maybe good if you are camping out! I cooked red and pinto beans for this recipe complete with soaking the beans overnight. The result was a very complex dish, hearty enough for a main course.Looking forward to investigating more of these recipes. Not just for athletes but also people who like to eat healthy. As other reviewers have commented there is a heavy emphasis in this cookbook for the benefits of eating with friends and family and a long introduction supporting those views.

Creative recipes for the whole family.
I like the creativity of the recipes here. However, it does require buying some more exotic ingredients than I would typically use, as I am not a native cooker of Indian or Asian recipes. Sometimes I substitute something close I have on hand. I've been happy with the recipes, as have my children and husband. I just need to give myself a little advance planning to include more of these in my meal rotations. They always have pages and pages at the beginning of the book about their philosophy before they get into the actual recipes. The recipes are well organized, and the pictures are very attractive.

Delicious
Great cookbook. My son who is a cycler wanted it - it didn't really interest me, but after he checked it out at the library and made a few of the recipes, we ordered one to have for ourselves. The recipes, although they didn't sound good to me, after trying them, are DELICIOUS! There are 3 different cookbooks by the same author and we now have all of them and use them quite frequently.

A follow up cookbook to the first one -- so far delicious and the meals are explained so beautifully. Nothing is assumed of the cook, and this is wonderful to see in a book. No snobbery here, just fantastically healthy, beautiful, and delicious meals. We started with the Kalamata Chicken recipe (YUM!) and we cook a new recipe from the book one evening a week! What a great cookbook for all who want to eat for good health -- definitely not just for cyclists!

Dr. Lim and Chef Biju continue to put out excellent books on not only healthy eating but a healthy lifestyle. Having collected all of the books by these gentlemen, this one continues to impress with everyday meals for a healthy lifestyle that actually tastes good. We still use the original cookbook for our weekly meal planning. Highly recommend this book if you like good, healthy food with staple indgredients and minimal prep.

Outstanding!
This cookbook is outstanding. As an active person I'm always looking for ways to properly fuel my body for the strenuous activities I participate in. Not only are the recipes delicious, all of the nutrition facts are in the back of the book! I've discovered a lot of "new favorite" meals in this book!

Worth the money for a real cookbook!
Have been cooking out of this a lot recently and love it! Definitely not for the super picky eater, my husband eats a lot more out of it than I do but the recipes are great and healthy and usually pretty easy.
