Great for kids!
I used this book in my classroom to teach about communities ( I teach 2nd grade)! This was a great book to teach about the job of mayor and the importance of laws and rules! The little boy in the story becomes mayor for the day and he stops all laws and rules! They soon realize what happens when a town does not have any laws or rules! It talks about family rules, school rules, and community laws! It was perfect for my lesson! My only gripe is that it is VERY long! You cannot sit down and read it to your class in 1 sitting, I did it over 3 days and it was perfect!

Things are not always better on the other side.
Great book for reading and talking about with children. Good story line and pictures that also tell a story. Be satisfied with what you have. It may look better somewhere else, but once you get there you will find the noise at home is much better. Words easy to understand. Print easy to read. All his books are great!!

Teaches important values to children
I love reading children's books with a purpose -- teaching chidren values and lessons make a book more important and memorable. The book, "Noise! Noise! Noise!" is one of those books that teaches tolerance, friendship and appreciation. This story is about two little mice, Marcus and Marcella, who were unhappy living in their home in the forest. They hated having to look for their food, and they hated the noise that all their animal neighbors made. When they hear about all the good food and quiet they could have at the farmhouse, they decide to move. But after their encounter with the farmer and his wife, they quickly discover how much easier their lives were in the forest. They decide to move back home despite their previous objections.MyParenTime.com highly recommends this book -- it teaches important values to children, including dispelling the myth that the grass is always greener on the other side. Also, the illustrations will keep the reader interested in what happens next. Children are sure to enjoy this story!

A valuable lesson learned in one day
When a boy named Davy is chosen "Most Valuable Player" on his junior soccer team, he is also chosen to be mayor for a day in his town. He is so excited to make his day fun, that he announces his day to be a day with no rules! In the book, "Mayor for a Day," Davy thinks he'll have a great day when everyone in the town goes without any rules. Unfortunately, things get out of hand with no rules and Davy realizes that rules are a very important part of life.MyParenTime.com highly recommends this book -- it teaches children that rules are indeed a very important part of daily life, and that the world cannot operate in an organized manner without them.

Excellent Author
A wonderful book with excellent values. We live in a world where people don't always understand why we need guidelines. This book teaches that rules and guidelines are important. In each of Mr. Sommer's books he teaches positive values in a way that kids can grasp their meaning.
