EL 34 tubes for a Marshall TSL122
I've had my slightly used Marshall TSL122 for six years. It's a powerhouse and I've played a number of gigs with it during the past year. Our bass player has complained that it had no bottom. It was plenty loud but with no fullness or richness so I figured I'd re-tube it. The tubes to be replaced are Svetlana tubes. Years ago, there were supposed to be the best but names of companies have changed or the rights have been transferred; its all rather confusing, however from what I could figure out, the Winged 'C' tubes are top rated and produced by the original Svetlana factory. Chinese tubes are much cheaper but I've sent enough of my money to them and I don't trust the quality either. Regardless, I put in the new tubes and my first impression was good but not not great. But after re-adjusting my tone controls and gain, things improved dramatically. I can now be loud but with a richness the amp never had before. The clean channel is dramatically improved. Previously the clean output was weak and thin. Now it sounds like a classic tube amp should sound. Although it's not the same as my classic '65 Vibrolux, its pretty good! The lead channel went from ear splitting and high frequency heavy tones to the mellow crunch you'd expect from a Marshall. The bottom end got fuller and slightly heavier but not boomy. All in all, I'm very happy that I spent the money and got the best and I can't wait to try my "new amp" at a gig. As for the vendor, the order came sooner than expected. Visit their web site and you'll see that they have lots of other guitar related stuff. Check it out at [...] Note that the tubes were still cheaper if you purchase them through Amazon.

Best new production EL34 tube
I got these tubes from AmplifiedParts, they provide good delivery and fast (only 2 days, after ordered).About the tube, I plug 2 SED EL34 to replace stock tubes (China) EL34B Shuguang on my Single Ended amp 2x6watt.Sudenly I can feel different sound, SED has more rounded in treble, and expose vocal sound.Playing Ingram Washington - What a Difference a Day Makes , I hear vocal of Ingram more detail, his throat sound.Even more detail but not I didn't hear busy musicSoundstage and deep, almost similiar with Shuguang EL34B, vocalist posistion just perfect.Bass good enough, tight..well you cannot expect EL34 produce big and deep bass like KT88 or 6550 did.If you love vocal jazz music, this one for you.I will update this review after 100 hours run, I hope get best sound when break-in achive.~ron~

Great sounding tubes for JVM
These tubes shipped from Ampllified Parts, and arrived quickly in good condition. I had read reviews that said these tubes were the best in Marshall amps. They seemed to bear this out. My JVM410H sounds much better than it did with the Svetlanas that were in it. Note: The tubes that were in it are newer Svetlanas purchased in the US, not the stock tubes shipped from Marshall and are not the same as the SED Winged C tubes that are labeled Svetlana in Europe and used to be labeled that way here (US). I can't speak to the longevity of the tubes, as I've only had them a couple weeks, but they sound great now. Service from Amazon and Amplified parts was hassle-free and fast. I'm very pleased.

I love America and Winged C SED EL-34 matched pair!
Tried Mullard reissue...and thankfully my local shop took them back as they didn't work in my 2003 Marshall TSL60. Replaced with Winged C SED EL34 that were OEM from Marshall. Trust me, save yourself time and misery, spend the extra money. They are amazing and I would have spent more 'cause they're worth it. Ended up putting the original preamp tubes back in... once again the reissue Mullard ecc83's just don't work in this head but may work for you. It is dead quiet at idle and has never sounded better. Thanks Amplified Parts.

wow
What a difference. I put these into my Marshall Haze 40C as a replacement for the factory tubes. Very tight low end now much more prounounced mids and great highs. I also ended up replacing the stock Marquee speaker with a Hellatone 60. This is my favorite amp I have ever had now. Sounds better than my JCM 800 half stack I used to cart around.Update: both of my tubes blew with only about 20 hours of use. Seller was great to work with and vey reasonable. I must have gotten some lemons. It happens

A little disappointed. All four tubes were supposed to be matched ...
A little disappointed. All four tubes were supposed to be matched but one was off from the others. For the money I paid - disappointed.

Seems to be a good tube in my single ended 13 watt amplifier
Seems to be a good tube in my single ended 13 watt amplifier. Does not appear to color the sound. Seems robust. Time will tell how it fairs.

Great sounding tubes!
I have these running in my Yaqin MC10L amp. Right out of the box they sound great! I was surprised by that. Now a few weeks later they are burned in and just sound better and better.Don't hesitate. I bet these would sound amazing in a guitar amp as well.

Nice EL-34's
Very nice right out of the box. I expect they will get even better after a few more hours of burn in.

i'd like to retract my bad review....
i've been using JJs in my JVM since about 3 months after i bought the amp because 1 of the stock tubes went out (open heater) so i bought JJs and stuck with them until a recent bad batch of kt77s that i had to return. i always thought the amp sounded harsh and way too much mids with the stock tubes. but i got to thinking what if i just got a bad set in the amp from Marshall? there's too many good reviews, so i decided to go ahead and get a new set of SED =C= tubes. so i put them in, biased it up to 74mv per side and it sounds pretty darn good now. i'm very pleased it's much smoother and balanced with the new set of tubes. so i am jumping on the bandwagon. =C= all the way!

Wonderful tube for audiophile grade tube gear.
I have used two different sets of Winged C EL34's in my Dynaco ST-70 (modified with an auto bias circuit) and will say that these are by far the best "new production" EL34 tubes available for audiophile applications. I previously have owned most of the current production tubes including Sovteks, Tung-Sol copies, JJ tubes of various vintages and permutations (Groove Tubes, etc.), and can say without qualification that the Winged C beat them all easily. The problem, of course, is that anything this good does not last. Winged C's are, for now, out of production because of "licensing" issues. As a result, the plant in St. Petersburg, Russia is closed. Maybe it will reopen one day, maybe not. So these tubes are now technically New Old Stock. Still, they are definitely worth seeking out even if the price is climbing fast.
