I've been wanting to have a mandoline for a while. I learned certain things in the kitchen the old fashioned way. For example, peeling and slicing with knife the potatoes to make french fries. There was nothing wrong with it, except it was a little time consuming. I had to sharpened the knife and when I began slicing, I always cut more than I wanted to. I've been wanting to prepare potato chips. Certainly I was not going to be able to do them with a knife. This mandoline made it easier for me to complete the recipe and the potato chips came out really good. This was a handheld mandoline. I was able to position the mandoline the way I wanted and hold it securely. Additionally, both the handle and the feet of the mandoline were made with a nonslip rubber. There was no need for me to sharpen the mandoline. It already came sharpened and ready to be used. Depending on what I wanted to prepare for the day, I had inserts with different measurements. I did not have to worry about cutting myself with it as the vegetable was hold securely against the mandoline. I cook a lot of vegetables to add to my meals and definitely, this mandoline shortened the amount of time I spend in my kitchen.
