Kid's Kit: Magnetic Words for Creative Fun and Learning! (Magnetic Poetry Kids)

a must have for first grade and up!
i bought this two years ago. it got a little attention but since my kids were 4 and 5, it was hardly used by them alone. on occasion we would play with them together and work on making a good silly sentence but it wasn't until this week, when i decided to put them on my fridge, that it really reached its full potental. now that they are 6 and 7, it's the perfect age for them to create their silly sentences and have them actually make sense. it encourages them to read for fun and everyone laughs in the kitchen while i'm making food.

Same great product on the inside, terrible packaging
I understand that the products sold on Anazon by "real companies" are trying to get rid of items not suitable for shelves ... However, when I am paying retail cost and the packaging is damaged, not cool. I can only hope that all of the words are in there, as the description lacks an exact number - the box was not sealed and the plastic case was cracked. I love MagPo and wanted to share that with my boys, and I will, but I'm not happy with the 3rd-rate packaging of a retail item at a retail price. Other than that, I'm looking forward to seeing my kids build funny sentences. This is a set full of kid-friendly words, even for my 5yo, so this will surely help his reading skills, too. Would have been 5 stars if the packaging was better.

Kids don't realize that they are learning
Bought this word set to put words in my house for a fun way for my 1st grader to read more. He spent time putting the words in alphabetically order on the fridge. There are many words, but a few are "missing" according to my kids. I explained that not all the words in the dictionary can be here, so some sentences can't be put together, but that are having fun with making up silly things. I got a kick out of seeing "I Love Mom" a couple weeks after they were using it. The magnets tend to be slid over the surface as opposed to being lifted and moved over, as such, the surface of the fridge has small scratches now. But if this helps make reading more fun, then it will be worth it.

Used to encourage reading and writing!
We bought this set to encourage our kindergartner to read more often and to create sentences. We put these on the fridge and create a sentence each night for our son to read in the morning. Then we encourage him to make one for us. He loves reading our sentence in the morning and at first was hesitant to make his own. Now months in, he is making sentences all the time! This really was what turned our 5 year old from not understanding why reading is fun to loving to be able to read a message from mom and dad.

Great. Wish it a bit bigger
All is great. Recommend it for all ages. However, really wish it can be bigger size. (No issue on thickness, but the tiles are TINY. ) It is hard for kids and adult to maneuver. And really easy to get lost.

Spontaneous Fridge Creativity
This was purchased as a gift for my 7 year old daughter's birthday. She is a bright child, but a reluctant reader. The first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the sheer volume of the number of words. There are more than 350 individual magnetic words. It took more than 15 minutes to "break" the sheets of words apart to be applied to our fridge. The words come with a metallic case, but we wanted the words on the fridge, where they would be visible.Within the first hour of purchase, grandpa was writing poetry. Later in the day, my daughter wrote some funny sentences. From time-to-time someone writes something witty on the fridge while noshing late-night.Pros:- Inexpensive- Many words to choose from- EducationalCons:- There are so many words it is often difficult to find what you want in a sea of words- These are small magnets that could be dangerous ingestion hazards around smaller kids (under three)

My kids like it
Son and daughter 5 and 6, they like playing with the words. It is a pretty large number of words tho so I had to pare it down some because otherwise it is sort of overwhelming.I had been looking at a different set with larger sized tiles. That may have been a little bit better while they are still fairly young. They can definitely manipulate the smaller tiles but the sheer word count is just a lot to go through.Still, I'm happy with this and it definitely does help children by exposing them to lots of words and forming ideas/sentences.

Poetry center
Used these in school as a poetry center. The students had magnetic cookie sheets and a handful of magnetic words to create poems. They begged to go to this center

Fun for kids
Great little kit suitable for kids trying to get to grips with their vocabulary as they start learning to read, and very accessible to have it stuck to the fridge. Large number of words plus some prefixes and suffixes. My only criticism is that it's made in the USA, so a few of the words are spelled the American way, rather than our preference of the British way.

Great item for encouraging reading and play with words
There are many different games and toys for kids, but words are one of the best things to play around with. My 7 year old enjoys making up her own nonsense poems with this kit. I bought her a magnetic board to display her poems on, but it is equally easy to play in the magnetic tin itself - the hinged lid makes a perfect place to write your poems, and of couse, is convenient for travel. I am very pleased with this great item.

Sturdy Stuff
It's a good quality kit, I expect the magnets to last for a very long time. One mistake in this edition, and I contacted the 'magnetic poetry' company about it.

Great fun
This set is very good for creative youngsters, and older ones, to play about with words, rhymes and to make some good use of the fridge door.
