My Little Pony: Pony Tales Volume 1 (MLP Pony Tales)

Great for promoting independent reading!
My 5-year-old would rather have us do everything for her, so I love graphic novels because they aren't really good for being read aloud. So she's motivated to read to herself! Plus I'm a fan of bringing girls into the wonderful world of comics. While the characters are mostly dominated by men, there are a lot of great female role-models out there in comic-world. So these are a great intro to the joy of comic books too.My daughter loves these books, so you won't hear any complaints from me on plot or that they're mostly just re-telling things that happen in the shows. I haven't seen any reviews where the kids - the target audience - hasn't loved them, so who cares what Mama thinks!

Great Collection
As with all other IDW comics, the quality of printing is top notch, and especially collections like this, they're put together properly. This collection is the first 6 mini-series that they produced alongside the main comic series. These character stories include Twilight Sparkle, Pinkie Pie, Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, Applejack and Rarity. These mini-series don't have quite the amount of background detail as the main comics have as I'm sure their production budget and deadlines were much shorter, but they're still a great read and the artwork that IS there is top notch. Also you're blessed by the last 6 pages of the book containing the original covers for each of the comics, so if you're a collector, it's much easier on your wallet to just snag this rather than 6 individual issues that are getting quite difficult to track down.

Fun
Fun! I really liked it, but the art could be enough better, and it didn't have a lot of "adventure" and "action" like the others. Overall, it was really good.

Brony Review
I'm a Brony, and a 24 year old man with a goatee. I'm obviously a smidge bias and all but, that aside, I'm enjoying this (I guess it's technically a big comic). I'm all ready over half way through it and it basically tells stories around the main cast about specific individual adventures they have on their own. For example, chapter one is all about Twilight Sparkle and her adventures working in a library for a bit, then chapter two is all about the next pony, and so on.I'm like, five or ten episodes into season 3 of the MLP:FIM show and the adventures in the book are all unique and never in the show so, if you can't get enough MLP this'll be a joy to read. The art and dialogue is all very satisfying and "cannon" so there really isn't any reason that any fan of the show wouldn't love this.Plus, as a meager aspiring artist this makes for some awesome pony reference art if you're into making fan art or original characters or anything of that sort. This book is totally worth the buy, and I plan on getting the rest of this series. Seriously, I don't really even like reading in general but, this one's hard to put down, I tell-you-what~(Last thing I can think of noting is when I got the book I thought it was covered in stickers [like, for kids or something]... it's not, it's part of the cover *face palm* thank-Luna I didn't damage the cover, haha) Enjoy your purchase, I know I am.

Great little stories
This book splits up the mane cast of the show so they each have their own section. I liked this cause it gave us better look at each of them you know? Different artists also handled each of the sections so that's cool.Everyone's stories were decent and I enjoyed them. But, Rarity's story- now this is where the awesome is at. It has some amazing artwork. The cover is nice and bright, and the logo has a glitter effect to it, very pretty.Would recommend for fans of the show.

My 4-year-old loves these graphic novels
I can't say enough how great these books are for kids. They are appropriate (of course it's My Little Pony), teach good values, and are fun! I really enjoy reading them to her as much as she enjoys being read to. Also, the artwork is engaging enough that my daughter will just sit there and look through the book on her own.

Ponies, ponies EVERYWHERE!
The comic book series of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a bit different from the television show as for the most part everything is not concluded in one short chapter, although with these "Pony Tales" volumes single chapter story lines are exactly what you will be getting. Even though the writing style is a bit different from the originating TV series it is still a really enjoyable experience that I would suggest to any Brony, Pegasister, young or old!

Valeu a pena, recomendo.

My 6 year old daughter loves reading this on her iPad! The comic strips are excellent and has def encouraged her to read a bit more artively than she was before!
