Easy to install and Wi-Fi repeater works a treat for me.
I bought this to replace an old single exterior socket and installation today was remarkably easy. Everything fitted well together and build quality is pretty good for the price. The locking flap is quite hard to lock but gets easier when you practice a bit. I wasn't bothered at all about the Wi-Fi extender and suspected it either wouldn’t work or would be useless but I’m happy to report that it works a treat and it immediately saw my Wi-Fi when I activated the WPS on my router. The light flashed orange then a few seconds later went solid blue meaning a connection had been established. It just worked! That never happens for me. I had pretty good Wi-Fi signal outside anyway but it looks like this thing has boosted it even further in the 2.4ghz band. I consider this a bonus on top of now having two new sockets. Quite impressed to be honest. If you have a fairly good signal outside then this gives it a bit more juice but I doubt it can do much if you have a weak signal. Worth a try if you need sockets anyway. Recommended.

Waterproof electric sockets AND WiFi - all at a good price!
It really does seem to be waterproof, and the WiFi was easy to set up. Great way to put an outside WiFi repeater in the garden (Double glazing and house walls can block WiFi from reaching far outside)It does need to be able to 'see' an existing WiFi network to be able to repeat (boost) it, so it should be put somewhere close to a WiFi hub indoors - check where there is a good signal before deciding where to put it, but once a location with a WiFi signal and somewhere a power cable can be run is found it will set up easily (just normal wiring a socket) and linking to the WiFi is easy.If you are worried about putting electric sockets outdoors consider using an RCD breaker or similar on the power supply to the socket (you can get individual breaker protected plug sockets to fit to make running a cable outdoors safer - especially if you plan to use outdoor power tools on the socket)

Throw the instructions in the bin
If you follow the instructions to connect to your WiFi, you backing a looser straight away. Obviously the instructions were written by works experience boy. To connect to you WiF, first thing make sure you socket is powered up. Then go into the setting of your phone or tablet and go into the WiFi settings, and you should see " WIFI-socket.repeater.net, click on that , and then come out of the wifi settings, then go into your browser and then follow the instructions. Scanning the QR code . WPS method or typing the address into your browser doesn't work. If you, set BG-socket.repeater. net listed as an available WiFi network. Send you socket back that software doesn't work properly . WIFI-socket.repeater.net seems to work ok . So BG why did you change/ update the software? BG you lost a star because of the useless instructions

Reduces 60mb to less than 1mb
I had a belkin extender plugged into an outdoor socket for the Luba lawnmower but couldn’t shut the cover because the belkin was too deep. I thought this would be the perfect solution. Replaced the old socket, connected via WPS as the barcode nor http works and ended up with 0.6mb from this BG nonsense instead of the 60mb I had with the belkin. Complete waste of time and money.

Good Value For Money
It is very important that you read the very first part of the installation guide, which explains where to put the extender, which is very important i.e. do not install it where the WiFi signal is poor as it will do nothing to extend it, but fit it in a place where the signal is fairly good and it will extend the good signal, it says about half way between router and dead spot.I would put it on the end of your external cable, and where possible move it back and forth between the router and the dead spot, till you get the best location for the strongest signal, at what was your dead spot, and put it there.

Very difficult to set up
I have two of the indoor double wi-fi sockets and they were so easy to setup. This outdoor version just isn't playing ball.I press the WPS button on my router and it goes into pair mode. Then I press the WPS button on the socket and it flashes between orange and blue.So far so good. Then it pair to my router for about 5 seconds (solid blue) and then it goes back into pairing mode (flashing blue).I tried the QR code method and it says DNS error every time.Going to try again tomorrow.
