After a hugely successful Kickstarter campaign, Empire: The Game of New York is Gundred Games' first release to market. The objective of Empire is take over NYC! To do this you must occupy every neighborhood in all of the boroughs on the map with your player cubes by systematically booting out neighboring players through key deployment and battle strategy as well as rolling higher dice values. To play a shorter version of the game, use the occupation cards: instead of trying to take over the entire map, players independently and secretly try to occupy what is on their card. First player to complete his or her mission wins. Each neighborhood on the map has a corresponding card featuring one of three New York City pests: squirrel, rat, or pigeon. These cards will first be used to determine which neighborhoods you occupy at the start of the game. During game, play cards are accumulated and cashed in for more player cubes. For fun, the cards contain obscure facts about each neighborhood. A minimum of three and a maximum of six players are needed to play the game. To spice it up, each color cube is associated with an identity to get behind while trying to take over the city: red for 'hipsters; yellow for 'cabbies'; green for 'trees'; blue for 'cops'; black for 'bankers'; and pink for 'Upper East Side ladies'.
