Kustom Hv Series 20w Hybrid Tube Combo Guitar Amp

I lost a 50 watt Crate tube amp in a divorce. It cost me $600 in the late 90;s. I was left with a Peavey Bandit 112 which I've never liked. Just the wrong tone. I just unpacked this Kustom HV20T. I was going to wait awhile before reviewing to make sure it was broken in. I can't wait. Within the first few hours I've realized this is the best amp I've ever owned. The tube tone is better than the all tube Crate I had. It's the equal of any fine tube amp I've ever heard. A friend of mine had a Fender Twin Reverb when I was a kid (early 70's). This at 20 watts easily equals that. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect. The only flaw might be that you can't set the rate of the effects. You can only choose long or short. Long just happens to be perfect for me for all of them. The rotary effect is that...perfect. If you like SRV's rotary, here it is. The chorus is a perfect bell. Simplicity is the word for this amp. It has nothing you don't need. It sets up simpler than any effects amp I've ever used and it has the blues sound I need. There not a lot of bells and whistles to complicate things. So there's not a lot of crap in the circuit and that must be the reason it sounds so...tube perfect. The overdrive, is beyond anything you'll ever need. Because they have a "Boost" setting and a "Delay + Boost" setting . I don't use the boost because it's too much for me. I can get all I want just turning up the gain. It's a two channel amp. The "Lead" channel has perfect distortion and the clean channel is...very clean and amazing with the chorus (it also can have high gain). This amp was part of a big line and all the other models appear to be gone. I can't imagine what the 100 watt combo or head would be like. It's a shame people didn't pick up on these. All I can say is that I saw Leslie West and Felix Pappalardi playing a mountain of black tufted Kustom stacks in East Lansing Michigan. It was the most impressive wall of amps I've ever seen, perfectly matching Leslie and Felix's black leathers. This amp is from a company with a huge heritage. I can't believe with product this good at such a low price there aren't a few more reviews like this one. By the way I didn't buy this from Amazon. They are out of stock. I bought it direct from Kustom and they are just giving them away. It's insane considering how good this sounds and how well it's designed. Pure simplicity in sound and circuitry. But it has everything... I know, I just got it. If it gives out I'll be back to report it here. Oh, and it looks really, really good too...elegant!
