It works. Follow instructions. Add it in the morning, not before you go to bed.
I don't know what's in it. I don't know how it works, other than as an oxidizer, which could be almost anything. I do know it was incredibly effective at killing all the cyano in my 90 gal softy reef in 24 hours. All livestock was fine, nothing was maimed, injured, or even seemed to notice.I added one dose in the morning, actually turned on the lights early to make sure there would be oxygen production in the tank. I did add a large airstone to the display and left the skimmer on, per the instructions. Skimmer took some adjustment to keep it from overflowing, but no big deal. It did make the skimmer kick out a lot of micro bubbles for a few days that got into the display, but it was worth it to watch the slime disappear.I think the people that lost stuff must have added it during lights off when the tank is consuming oxygen, combined with the massive die-off and bacterial consumption of the cyano the tanks can go hypoxic. Don't do that, it works great .

Great product!
I'm frankly surprised that this product was so effective against a major aquarium nuisance with seemingly no drawbacks, and it is very inexpensive too.My system contains several high bioload fish (including mature adult crosshatch triggers, a huge sohal tang, a big naso tang, and a zebra eel) and non-photosynthetic corals which require frequent feeding. I always have detectable nutrients - nitrate 5ppm and phosphate .3ppm - but only recently developed a cyanobacteria problem. I'm not certain what triggered it but it quickly covered the rocks and sand, and as usual it would quickly return after physically removing it... and of course nothing eats it.I used one full vial (enough to treat 300 gallons) in my 500 gallon reef system, so I under-dosed about 40%. The odorless yellow powder discolored the water only briefly. After 24 hours about most of the cyano is gone, and so far there have been no detectible adverse effect on corals or fish. Per instructions I did NOT turn off filtration. But I did adjust the skimmer by reducing the water level and air intake, and it has pulled out quite a bit of skimmate. pH did not drop appreciably but it runs low all the time, in the range of 7.8 - 8.0, because of biopellets.I've already ordered a second vial, and will use it if there is any cyano left after 48 hours.

Works very well - Be Careful with your skimmer!
I used this in my 65-gallon Red Sea Max saltwater tank. In this tank I've got 4 clowns, a puffer, diamond goby, green goby, rabbitfish, and Charlie blenny. My corals are mushrooms, polyps, and leather. I've also got a rose bubble-tip. Lots of live rock and sand.I used this product after getting a lot of red slime on my rock. Use is very simple with the included measuring spoon, although it is a little difficult to get this dissolved in the water beforehand. After putting the mixture into the tank, it developed an interesting yellow color, but that disappeared before too long. The packaging does say that you can leave carbon, etc in and on. It does warn that protein skimmers can be over-activated, and this is certainly true. Almost instantly, ours started to over-produce, so I recommend you either turn your skimmer off or turn it way down.Very good results within 24 hours (we did reduce our photo-period as well. You may want to stir your sand bed if you have an issue inside of it. Very good results - I'll be using this again. Absolutely no adverse impacts on livestock.

Worth the $
Only 1 dosage needed for my tank. Does exactly what it says it will do. I waited 72 hours to decide if I needed a second dose. All the algae is gone from everywhere- even in between the rocks. All the fish, crabs, shrimps and snails are doing well.

Have Cyano taking over your tank? GET THIS STUFF
For the last two years, I've dealt with varying levels of Cyanobacteria infestations. Sometimes I would physically remove it all and it would be good for a week, other times I swear it would all come back the next day. I was hesitant to use this stuff because a friend had a bad experience with a different brand's red slime remover. Per the instructions, I setup extra aeration and followed the schedule/ratios.The first treatment (2 doses) made a significant impact within 4-5 days. I hit a third dose 7 days later and boom, bye bye cyano you *#(@er. I'm now 3 weeks out from treatment and haven't seen a single piece of cyano come back. What a relief! My only disappointment is that I did not do this sooner. All my corals and fish are very happy!

It works!
Another success story as in a lot of the other reviews. About three months into the tanks life (and stocking) the red cyanobacteria / hit... everywhere (rock, sand, glass). Water flow/water changes didn't help and tying to siphon it all wasn't going to work. This stuff did. Within 24 hrs there was none left and per the instructions, I did a deathblow dose after 48 hrs. Now at 72 hrs and no sign of any red cyano or a few other patches of green algae that was in there is gone. Did a water change and the tank looks outstanding. Stuff works. No effects on the corals, inverts, fish, and the sebae anemone. Make sure you mix well (it gels up when it hits water). a small cup of tank water and a small whisk. Dumped it near the circulation pump, turned the water yellow for a minute, then cleared. It did make the skimmer create some bubbles but the instructions recommend you add a air stone or increase the air to the skimmer since it helps the removal of the cyano. Recommend it if you have an outbreak. and to keep in the in case stash.
