Proud of You Paperback – December 31, 2012

Have you ever read a book and wondered, "how did this even get published??" That's exactly what I thought when I read it. The author and illustrator are from my hometown and they came to our school to promote their book. The school was selling signed copies of these books for $10. Although I rarely spend this much on a book, I figured I would support some former Northside Elementary students on their book. My daughter wants to be an author/illustrator, so I thought it would be a great experience for her to see the author/illustrator sign the book and address it to her. But no, it came to her pre-signed and not personalized. That was my first disappointment. Then I read the book. The whole book is filled with fragmented sentences and distorted illustrations that make the people look creepy. (I mean really, really creepy.) The advice in this book isn't that great, either. I wish I could say that I enjoyed this book, but it went straight into the "donation" pile. What a huge waste of $10. I own over 3,000 children's books and reading is a big part of our day. Out of all the books I have, this one falls into the lower 10%. Save your money please!

This is a great book for all parents to read to their children. I loved reading this book to our three kids and the discussions that followed. Great family book.

This book has a beautiful and touching message for all kids. It is a book that any loving parent should read to their child. Loved it!
