Ok I know exactly what you’re thinking - and I was thinking the same thing
I had a nice 3-bike Saris strap rack for the back of the car. I noticed it was starting to scratch my car - not good.I’d been looking at this and other suction mounts for awhile. I had to get over the thought of my bike flying onto the freeway.I used it for the first time last week to go about an hour and half north of Atlanta. Went backroads as I didn’t want to brave the interstate.Setup and install was easy - probably 3 to 5 minutes. I chose this unit because of 3 suction cups for the front wheel (3 would never fail at once right?). The carry case, spare pumps and pump lube also make this - I think - the best complete package. In short I went through everything - rough country roads, crossing country town railroad tracks and more. In fact, one of the streets I had to travel even had those metal plates every few yards due to roadwork.I’m not going to lie - I looked up at the bike through my glass roof A TON OF TIMES lol but the bike was stable. The unit itself is like another reviewer stated - “It’s a beast” - well made with steel and quality components. The suction cups are super strong. This thing only comes off the car when you take it off!I’ll never go back to straps or rails. My brother is getting ready to order this one as well.I forgot to mention the ‘cool’ factor. Other riders who saw me pull up loved this thing. Now go order it lmao - cheers!

Best Suction Cup Rack System
Super easy to setup. Powerful suction. Hold all sorts of bikes with the included adapters. Worked great on my 300zx! Highly recommend

Great but one problem
It works great the only thing I don't like like others also mentioned about this is the front quick release axle should have been like 1/2 longer you have to unscrew the nut so far that sometimes it comes off when trying to put your bikes forks in the holder. Other than that it's perfect I could even put my bike on my VW bug and that's great!

Very convenient and sturdy, make sure glass is clean!
I'm familiar with similar products as I have a Tree Frog crossbar setup. I wanted something small and compact for going solo MTBing, love that this came with all the fork adapters. Likely going through get a second one for taking two bikes vs a double version that others sell.

Unsafe
Followed directions carefully. Bike felt secure and sturdy. Going about 30 mph, thankfully on a quiet road, and bike flew off after about 10 minutes. If l had been on a busy road, someone could have been killed by my flying bike. Bike and car were damaged. Don't trust this bike carrier. It is not safe and should be illegal. It is scary to think that people are driving around with these on their cars. I feel stupid for thinking that it would work.

Works as designed
I'm new to biking. I drive a little car with a very large sunroof (no luggage rack available on the roof). My options were this suction cup mount or a hatchback rack... I went with this one.It works as designed. My routine:- clean sunroof with windex (get the pollen off the glass)- attach the front mount (takes about 1 minute to get the suction cups fully engaged)- remove tire from bike and put it in the back seat- heft bike to roof and pray I get the forks into the mount without missing and cracking my sunroof- tighten the quick release on the mount- put back suction under rear tire and engage suction cup- strap back tire- strap petalsI put it over the passenger side and am able to see one of the plungers on the front mount while driving (by glancing up through closed sunroof) to be sure it is still engaged (no red line).I've only driven a couple miles with it on the roof. Nervous it is going to go flying off, but with more usage i'm getting more confident it will stick.I also pull it off while I'm riding and reattach when I'm back at my car. I don't want someone who knows what it is to pop them off my roof and walk away with them.I wish the quick release on the mount had a longer axle so that I could open it up a bit wider to make it easier to drop the bike onto it. If you loosen it too much, the nut comes off all together. For a one person rider and a short car, this is a good solution. If you needed to move two bikes, it obviously wouldn't work. If our car is tall, it would be hard to get the forks to align into the mount.
