Aggressive, economical media. Use this, not sand!
Black Beauty is a very aggressive blasting media. It is great for removing rust and paint from steel and cast iron. It's great for harder materials but use with caution on brass, aluminum or copper! Plastic will be destroyed by it! It is somewhat fine in size but it is very sharp edged and aggressive. It is not expensive in my book and holds up fairly well. When used for a while it can be downgraded for finer work. I have even cleaned painted parts with it at low pressure when it is more pulverized. You should do tests regardless and see how it performs before you use it on something important or valuable...

Aquarium Substrate!
I used this for aquarium substrate! It's working well and is definitely a more affordable option. Just make sure you rinse WELL before use. It takes A LOT of rinsing!

Works well for quick rust removal. A bargain at this price.
This is a good blast media if you need something agressive for quick rust or paint removal. It's a bit too agressive for aluminum work, I used it to remove rust from carbon steel, and it worked quickly. The box it came in was damaged slightly (probably from the shipping company) but it didn't lose any media. I would guess it to be around a 50-80 grit.

Blasting media
I used this in my aquarium as substrate, and it’s perfect! Like another review stated, make sure to rinse well before adding into your aquarium! I bought one box for my 60 gallon, I’ll need to purchase another one, but the first bag covered quite well

Good Sand High Priced
Was good sand and worked fine but almost think this is a scam on the price. Soon to be known to me it did not come in a bag that says black beauty it was clear plastic heat sealed shut. And it was almost a dollar a pound. I found I can buy black beauty sand the same as this for 20 Dollars for a 100 pound bag. Shop around first you may find a better deal

fantasic and versatile media
I use this to etch glass, steel, and stone and it continues to work great long, long after other media would have broken down and need to be replaced. Have done everything from very thin crystal to gun barrels with no issue, very satisfied.

Great for aquariums
This media is perfect for my prehistoric Polypterus aquarium. The size of the sand is great and the color really brings out the natural colors in my fish. 10/10

Granular wise; a bit too large for my intended purpose.
The item description includes a photograph of a pile of granular material that appears to be a bit finer than it actually is. Although advertised as "medium" grit this is an aggressive blasting material. I think the material is a heavier grit than advertised. It works well on steel but don't use it on aluminum, it will eat it up. In my opinion, this item is reasonably priced.
