Already had one, loved it. I have two places so would carry back and forth. Also would take it on vacations!! It us the greatest cheese slicer I have ever had and rave about it to everyone.

When we entertain, I like to have unique and interesting dishes and serving pieces on the table, to compliment the wine, cheese and hors d'oeuvres. I've never had a fancy cheese slicer before, but I was intrigued the moment I saw this one.It effortlessly cuts thick, wavy slices of semi-hard to hard cheeses like asiago, edam, havarti or cheddar due to the adjustable stainless steel wire. The handle is solid, smooth cherry or walnut (I received cherry) wood that fits perfectly in my hand. It should be wiped with a damp cloth or hand washed to protect the wood, and I used a thin coating of olive oil on the wood to keep it from drying out. Overall it gives an elegant, tasteful touch to a cheese display, and it's safe for kids to use since there are no sharp blades or edges.This cheese cutter is made in the USA, which I appreciate in a world of cheap Chinese-made junk. I've gotten several nice comments from people who have seen it and I plan to give a couple of them as gifts this coming Christmas. A lazy dinner for me is a loaf of whole wheat bread from Whole Foods and some fancy cheese (usually with something a little healthier on the side). I'd been using a steak knife to slice the cheese and it was working all right.And then I got this. And it was great. Such a simple thing but it actually worked much better than the knife for slicing cheese. (I tried it with a cheddar and an aged gouda. Both were pretty hard.) The cheese slices had a pleasing outer texture (wavy, because of the spiral cutter). And I liked that I did not have to use any tools with sharp edges. (You would have to remove rinds from cheeses that have them before using the slicer, though.)This slicer is also well made. The wire is securely fastened on both sides and it's stiff and doesn't bend out of shape. The wood is attractive and easy to grip.
