High quality, powerfully venting, under-counter hood
Replaced a GE Profile over-the-range microwave/hood combo with this unit after the GE repeatedly failed and became choked with grease. It never really had great suction. Decided we needed the combo of a better hood and a small countertop microwave in our small kitchen. This new Fotile hood does the job. Build quality is excellent and the installation manual was adequate. The only negative - the printing was rotated on the cardboard template (IE not square- off by a 1/4 inch one end of the template to the other), though the all important mounting holes were in the right place. Took a bit of unnecessary hassle to realize this and install the unit. Once installed, it works like a charm. Very, very quiet and powerful and perhaps better that a much larger Vent-a-Hood we had in a previous kitchen. One issue with my installation - it’s clear you need a large diameter duct to get the best performance. I stepped our’s down to 4 inches from the 7 inch outlet on the hood, and that created a lot of noise. Still, it’s way better than what we had before. 5 stars overall, though they need to fix that template.

Extremely powerful and yet quiet
Overall this is a great hood; that is extremely quiet and really does SUCK! (*smile*). I do feel that it is a bit high priced for what it is and the features you get (no auto-clean, etc), but the quality compared to cheaper models is immediately noticeable. I bought this vent hood as a replacement for a microwave unit with the rear 10" rectangle duct. This is one of the only vents that uses the rectangle duct that i've found to date which is powerful. Installation was a bit more complicated than the round top vent because it needed the hole in the back to be perfectly aligned and air sealed; but the template and instructions were detailed enough to install things. The vent hood works perfectly for all cooking; stir-fry, extreme steaming (lots of steam), etc. Overall I am happy with my purchase

Poweful suction perfect for gas ranges
The venthood is powerful and looks great. Do not settle for a quiter fan and settle for less CFM. The 21" depth is a plus to cover cooking on front burners. It moves a lot air and my kitchen and flooring is not oily anymore. The oil catchpans do not restrict airflows and they fit in the dishwasher and can be handwashed in the kitchen sink. I believe a lot of noise or issues from other reviews are because of improper installations and improper venting ducting sizes. They did not show their ducting pictures. The smaller and longer ducting will create small tunnel wind noise and restrict airflow. 6" ducting diameter is the minimum for this unit. It will be perfect if you have 7" or larger ducting diameter. The unit vertical duct diameter is 7" so I had to buy a 7" to 6" connector at a home improvement store to fit my vent out ducting. I installed it myself with my son help. Mainly to hold it over his head when I screwed the top bolts into the units. The template for the top 4 screws from the template are off. You will need to remark the hole on the template on the actual venthood before installation then drill 1/2 inch holes on top cabinet to give you room for adjustment.

Great quality and performance. Difficult to install.
It's more expensive for a good reason. The performance is definitely above the cheaper ones and even those not so cheap ones. Compared to the zephyr it replaced, the build quality, noise level is day and night. However, probably due to the build quality, this thing is heavy! And it requires more support than the zephyr. The top bolts were very tricky to install. The way it's designed leaves zero margin of error and you have to drill the holes at the exact spot to be able to bolt it on. Given the heavy weight, it's not an easy task. It took me a few tries and I had to make the holes bigger to get it done. Yes there is installation template but for any less than perfect wall surfaces, you're likely get some error. Suggest allowing some extra play for the top bolts. It would make the installation so much easier.

very powerful suction, very little noise it made
First impression of this product is that the product is very powerful with its suction ability. I tested it when I was cooking my steak which tends to generate a lot of smoke. This product did powerfully suck all the smoke away. Second point I want to mention is how quiet it is when operating. My previous one just made so much noise that I can't hear anything when I turned it on. But this Fotile vent doesn't make too loud noise at all like my previous vent. This feature is kind important to me because I really don't like too much noise. The third useful feature that I would like to share and I think it is kinda important to me is that its comparably easier to clean because its made of stainless steel. I use paper tower and some cleaner to clean the vent after I use it, it is very easy and simple to clean. The last feature that I want to mention is it provides good lighting for you to see clear the cooking area as well as the food you are cooking.

you can install it with another people. however, if it has loud noise, you probably not install properly

It's easy to install, be careful when you lift it, it's very heavy. The suction is strong, it fits my need. The noise level is ok. I have some discount issue, and the customer service help me out very effectively.

Unfortunately, "easy to clean" only means the drip trays. According to Fotile, you cannot remove the fan grates or get access to the fans to clean. This is really a bad design and i really don't know how i am going to go about cleaning the unit in the long term as grease will build up on and past the grates. I wish I had known this before spending this much money on a fan hood.

Good quality range hood. it is very good exhaust fan for the kitchen. I thought it is easy to install myself, I ended up to hire a professional to install it. It comes with the hood fan hole convert to fit the hole. unfortunately, the covert kit doesn't fit the exhaust fan hole. the technician used the foil tape to seal the hood fan nicely.
