To pea or not to pea
I am not normally an advocate of meat substitutes and prefer to eat fresh veg, beans and lentils but as a vegan I like to add a bit more variety to my meals as my usual dishes can get watery and quite acidic with lots of veg, beans and lentils. This did what I wanted it to, it absorbs water and seasoning very well much like mushrooms or aubergine and adds texture to dishes, it also crisps up very nicely using an air frier without need for oil. However, I think I would have preferred without the salt (unsalted version?) and I am not sure whether the 'concentrates' contained within are nearly as nutritious as eating peas and fava beans which are great foods. Despite these aspects, the option contains high fibre, high protein and low fat content which is healthier than the majority of substitutes out there. I find it tasty but it is based on adding garlic, onions and seasoning. it balances my meal for me and also means I don't necessarily need to add as much carbohydrate such as pasta or rice since it is filling and satiating which I like. Overall, good and I will most likely keep for two meals a week to add some variation. Good price, available on amazon and Holland & Barrett which is useful and fair quality ingredients.

Nice chewy chunks which absorb flavour well
Healthy and tasty, I'm a big fan of these chewy protein chunks.

Good vegan protein
5* for protein content. Great for spicy meals such as red Thai curry but pretty tasteless in other dishes.

Great substitute for meat
A great substitute for those of you like me who have an allergy to quorn and soya bean. Takes on the flavour of what ever herb sauce you add them to. I add a small handful to my pan of simmering water Herbs de Provence rice noodles sweet potatoes broccoli swede and pak choi tastes yummy. Would 100% recommend seller and product. Fast dispatch and delivery.

Good texture and easy to use
We really like these. They are much nicer than soya chunks which are often rather hard even if soaked. These had a ncie texture and cooked well in casseroles. Obviously they need flavouring but then that is the same for soya chunks.

Meh
I'd say they're ok. They do what they say. They take on flavour but do just taste like some weird rehydrated paste. Would be absolutely fine if it was space food, but I have just found my inclination to use them is low...

Excellent cupboard stock
Great stuff!I don't eat meat, my partner does, so I use this and split sauces or casseroles to share the 'gravy' or liquid content, and use half for partner with meat and half for me with this product.I prefer it to 'just like meat' products, faux chicken etc or the option of veg.Never been keen on replacing meat with cauliflower or sweet potato in a curry, but this is great. Most meat 'substitution' products are NOT like what they are replacing. There needs to be finer tuning with those that say you can't tell the difference. You can. Most are slimy with the wrong consistency. This product is much like a quorn style replacement. Good texture and chew on it. Soaks up the flavours of its sauce.Thoroughly recommend. Great to keep on standby in the store cupboard.

Excellent "meat" substitute!
It's hard to find good meat substitutes for those who want food that looks somewhat like meat and has a similar texture but is vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free (my husband!). These are ideal! They rehydrate and cook up nicely. As we use them in "wet" food like stews, casseroles, or curries, rather than rehydrating in water as directed which gives a bland result, we rehydrate in stock, seasoned tomato juice, or diluted cooking sauce and add straight to the cooking pot once they've soaked long enough to fully rehydrate. Unlike soy there's no strong unpleasant taste so they take on the flavour of cooking sauces nicely. A useful store cupboard item.
