I'm not sure what's wrong with these, but something is.
This is my first time trying this brand, and I am quite disappointed. I usually buy a different (more expensive) brand, and when you open a packet of those you can clearly smell the deep, rich chocolate aroma. I can't really describe what these smell like, other than stale.I use these for tincturing. I put some of them into caramel vodka, and within a few hours the delicious aroma of the caramel was undetectable, replaced by the weird stale smell of these nibs, which float -- the other brand I've used is much more dense and stays at the bottom (these don't float in higher proof alcohol, but in the caramel vodka they are definitely suspended). I just nibbled on a small handful and they don't taste much like chocolate either -- I get a little bitterness and a kind of earthy/dirty taste, but I'm not tasting much chocolate at all.Maybe it's a different kind of beans, from a different region? I'm not a cacao expert, but I know that I'm very unhappy with the smell and taste of these. Maybe they're over-dried, or perhaps they've been roasted, I don't know -- I just know I'll never order this brand again.

Addiction cured!
I bought a small bag of nibs to try from our local whole foods store and was instantly addicted. So I bought a nice, big bag of these nibs from Amazon, since I had never gotten anything bad from Amazon, and assumed I would get another quality product. Instead, when I tried a pinch of these nibs, I immediately bit down on something that made me think I had broken a tooth. It was a shell. I carefully tried several more pieces, and found many shells and quite a few bits that tasted rotten. My addiction to cacao nibs is now cured! Thank you!

More chocolatey (If that's a word!)
I ordered this to go into smoothies and nibble instead of my beloved chocolate that I am trying to cut down on. I've had other brands of cacao nibs before, but these are distinctly more chocolately tasting. Not unpleasantly. It's actually quite nice because you can use slightly less. Be aware that cacao nibs are usually pretty dry. I grind these to a fine powder for smoothies because otherwise you get larger chunks even if you have a great blender.

Great quality, wait till you smell it!
When you open the reclosable foil pouch the delicious rich smell will curl your toes. They are more potent tasting and smelling than other brands I have bought and seem to be of higher quality. My only complant is the occassional shell.

Worst tasting nibs ever
These nibs are full of shells and taste terrible. I will never buy these again! I am returning them for a refund, but that, of course, eats up half the purchase price.

Shells!
These cacao nibs smell delicious, and the jobs that you can actually eat are really lovely. My problem is I have gotten mostly shells. Bought them to garnish smoothies, will try another brand next time.

Awesome quality cacao
If you like nibs, the flavor of these is great. But not everbody likes nibs. They're kind of like red wine. You might love a bottle, and I might hate it. But after trying several different nibs here on Amazon, I would say these sit up there at the top, similar to what you'd expect from a Navitas or Sunfood brand. They lived up to my expectations. They're delicious, and I will order this brand again.

Best I've found to date
I snack on nibs and beans. I do not like processed foods, since I primarily eat cacao for my health. With that being said I can not comment on use of these for cooking (though my mom wants me to give her some so she can try). With that said, these are the best nibs I've found to date. Clearly of the Criollo & Trinitario variety of Cacao. I have a bag of the Forastero variety (of which 95% of all chocolate is made of) and compared it side by side with this bag and the difference is very easy to smell.I just wish it was 100% Criollo, but I'm quite satisfied either way. The only thing better from a health standpoint are the beans themselves! (which I prefer & also snack on)
