I purchased this book as a gift for my wife who personally traveled with the author back in the early days in China right after the "Bamboo Curtain" was lifted. She says, " I would give it 10 STARS if I could". Incidentally after her 17th trip helping the underground church, we found my wife is related to a well known Baptist missionary, Lottie Moon who spent 40 years in China (1873-1912). Not a Baptist bone in my wife's body, but A apparently she "got the genes".

If you want to know what's been happening behind the Bamboo Curtain, this is a "must read." The author, Dennis Balcombe, shares some of the incredible history of China -- going back thousands of years. Amazing information! It is also the journey of a man called by God to the Chinese People. The author went to Hong Kong in 1969. It's an incredible eyewitness account of persecution and revival -- and the dedication and resilience of the Chinese Christians. I couldn't put the book down. It will stir you and encourage you. The stories Dennis relates of China's spiritual revival, which he has been a part of for almost 40 years, are awe-inspiring. I'm so glad I heard about the book and bought it. You won't be the same after reading this book.

This was a gift. It's good to have books like this to learn about other people and the challenges they must endure.

Thoroughly loved it. Great history on China, Christianity in China and Dennis's involvement there. I couldn't put the book down. Anyone interested in the mission field or in God's work around the world should read it.
