Goetz ZA328E-115 Original Conrad Gotz Violin Tailpiece Ebony with Black Saddle, French Model, 4.53" 115mm

I got this for a longer than usual violin and it works great. It is in fact precisely 115mm long.If anything, the finish is so fine that it has a gloss to it. Also the wood is deeply and uniformly black and very dense , which brings the weight of this tailpiece one to two grams heavier than similarly sized ones. Not a problem, it is very sturdy and well made. Price is great for this kind of quality.

Amazing quality, at an amazing price - from the finely finished product right down to the packaging. And made in GERMANY, not Communist China. I almost regretted only needing one of them.

Fair warning...these came factory boxed.labeled as 115mm, but all three were actually 112mm...what a disappointment. I could have returned them for a refund, but decided to use them on some other violins...the Amazon customer service section is so templated/cookie cutter, I feared a reshipment would only get me the same. The finish and uniformity is better/sharper, but they are thicker/heaver (not desired in most cases) than cheaper Indian-made tailpieces, so pick your poison.

I replaced my Boxwood tailpiece with this tailpiece on my 1920’s Kurt Gütter violin. The wider top made a created a more equal distance from tailpiece-to-bridge on all four strings and made the tone and sound quality a little more even. This tailpiece might not work for everybody, but I had good results with it.

The tailpiece was everything I was looking for. Excellent quality at a reasonable price.
