Perfect for pre-surgery or hospital visit
My kids were having surgery so I read them this and a few other books in preparation for their hospital visit. This one really stood out as the best one because it went into the most detail without being scary.

Informative and appropriate for toddler pre-op
Helpful for my 3 yo prior to tonsil/adenoid surgery. Answered lots of questions and explained hospitals in an age appropriate manner so they were not scared and actually were excited to go themselves. Highly recommend!

Tonsillectomy at 4 years old
I was trying to prepare my son for a tonsillectomy and this was one of three books I bought. I liked this one because even though it didn’t go into detail of the process, it painted a nice picture of the environment he’d be in as well as how to expect the professionals to be. The cubs go to visit their cousin who just had a tonsillectomy at the beginning of the book, so it’s a nice leeway into the topic. Other things we did was a playdough surgery exercise so he’d better understand what they’d be doing. We also wrapped up “gifts” (popsicle molds, reading pillow, book, games) and it was the first thing he asked to do when we got home from surgery.

Really helpful
My daughters are 4 and 8 years old and do to COVID-19 they weren't going to be allowed to visit me at the hospital after I had a big surgery done, so I bought them this book to help them understand how a hospital setting is and everytime I will video chat with during my recovery they were so interested to know and see the hospital and compare it with the book.

Great for kids going to the hospital
I got this son for my toddler going to the hospital for surgery. I feel like it had a good variety for a lot of different things kids may need to go to the hospital for. I’d definitely suggest it.

No experience being a patient, just a visitor.
This book takes you on a general tour of the hospital after the family goes to briefly visit someone who had their tonsils removed.Overall this is a good book for kids to get an idea of generic things a hospital does, but doesn't give any visibility into what someone may go through as a patient.Skip this book if you're trying to prepare your child for a hospital visit as a patient.

Great to prepare kids for surgery
I bought this book for my 5 yr old because I am going to have surgery soon and he was nervous about it. This book was a great way to show him how hospitals help people. He loves the book.

Great Book to prepare my toddler for surgery!
This was great easy to understand information for little minds. I would highly recommend “The Berenstain Bears Go to the Doctor” and “Franklin Goes to the Hospital,” as well! These books really made things less stressful for our LO. It never hurt anyone to have a little exiting knowledge prior to being placed in this kind of situation. I loved the Berenstain Bears as a child & I’m grateful that most, if not all of their stories are still relevant decades later!

Shows areas of a hospital and could reduce fear of the unknown before a visit to a sick friend or relative's bedside.
I used this book in an English lesson with an older child and fairly competent reader. Two words tripped him up, patient and germ. One other word, tonsils, was unknown, but understood fairly quickly.
