National Geographic Little Kids First Big Book Collector's Set

Full of information and each book is a hardback, very good quality.

Pictures look nice and descriptions are fine. Some of the explanations could be less superficial without requiring any more previous knowledge. It's a bit advanced for my 5 year old niece although still interesting with an adult's help. I guess it's best for age 6 to 8.
