Tram 703-HC Center-Load Stainless Steel Whip CB Magnet-Mount Antenna Kit with 3-1/2-In. Magnet and Cable

Awesome little antenna. Was pulling my hair out trying to find a short antenna that would get my system SWR down below 3.0. My mount location was the worse place you could possibly put an antenna: on top of a dump truck cab next to metal cab guard for the dump box. Horrible ground plane and lots of reflection. From the antenna I removed the magnetic mount and just used the antenna itself which is threaded to the base. As installed, the antenna load (black piece in the center of the antenna) rises above the top of the cab guard and the antenna worked (radiated) very clean. The antenna top shaft above the load is tunable by loosening a set screw and adjusting the antenna in/out in 1/4 inch increments. Antenna responded very well and incrementally to tuning. Was able to get SWR down to 1.4 which is amazing considering the antenna location. I'm thrilled! I'm saving the magnet mount for another project as its seems to be good quality as well.. The magnet is powerful and and has a plastic covering on the bottom. I'm very impressed with the TRAM name brand.

I set this up on my truck top and using with a cobra 29 Ltd classic radio. The magnet has plenty of power. Have driven 80mph and now issues. The antenna can be adjusted, however with the adjustable radio I didn’t need to tune the antenna at all. I live rural and only get near major traffic a few times a week so I have only tested the new setup about 15 times. However, I have verified very good communication over 8 miles and one time I got a 16 mile conversation that was very clear for the distance and terrain. This is a great quality product and very reasonable. Highly recommended if you are looking for a economical antenna with big results.

I had a much smaller antenna hooked up to my small uniden and my SWR was terrible. This antenna appears to be well constructed and it was easy to adjust the antenna. Naturally this does not compare to my 4' firestick or my 102" whip, but for the size and money, it seems to work pretty good. I was able to get the SWRs down to 1.8 in a few minutes. My first test was a car caravan where we were only separated by a mile. I look forward to testing it further.

Great and strong

Purchased this along with a Uniden 505XL, ran the 17ft cable (yes it is 17ft even though somewhere it says 9) through my car and hooked everything up. I don't have an SWR meter so I couldn't exactly tune the radio, but I just made some guesses as far as what the height should be. Came with its own tool for adjustment as well. I drive a sedan and I didn't want a huge whip on the top of my car and this is only 2' tall, it really looks great. The mount is also really solid, it has not flown off yet, or even moved around. I know people always say spend $20 on the radio and $80 on the antenna but if you're on a budget like I am, this thing works just perfectly, keeping in mind you're not getting 10 miles out of it, but I can get at least 6 in the middle of the night.

This is a nice antenna however I needed a longer whip. its 1/16" diameter and I fortunately had some TIG stainless welding rod that I cut 2" longer. The SWR read perfectly after that. There's nothing available to replace a whip in this diameter other that that. also there's steel balls on Amazon that can be ordered to replace the tip however do not buy 1/8", it is too small, 3/16" will work because it can be drill out to 1/16th and epoxied on. Other than that this transmits about 1 mile in a city setting with lots of trees and structures.

Inital swr was 3.0 but was able to quickly and easily tune it to a 1.1 on 40 and 1.1 on 1, simply awesome. This was center roof mounted on my wife's car and I asked her if it held up to 80mph wind one her trip to her mother's house, she reported 120mph wind no problems! I know she's crazy, but so is that magnet! For the price its great, cant report on longevity just yet bc its only been 2 weeks but very impressed so far. Update: bought a second one to put on top of my house for a base station antenna to get me by untill I can get a proper one, I have a metal roof of course, took me a min to find the best place for low swr, but once I did it was 1.5 across the board! I'm talking to locals now and picking up some interesting conversations! For 15$ its the best performing antena under 50$ I'm actually shocked it works so well on my roof, and wouldn't have been upset if it didn't, it would have just been a good backup antenna for the wife's car!

I have used Tram antennas for satellite radio for years and they've always been top quality. This little CB antenna is no exception as it too is top quality. I am using this on a Mini Cooper hardtop hatchback with a full glass sunroof and it works brilliantly! I used this Tram antenna in place of a K30 and I would have to say the Tram antenna outperforms the K30 hands down. The magnet is really strong the Mast is perfect length for my car, it's SWR tunable resulting in far reaching reception. This antenna performs admirably!

good antenna for the price, - does its job - easy to install - work well under a 75 watts booster.

Excellent product

Es una excelente antena, la probé con un CB Uniden Pro510XL y con el Uniden Pro520XL, en ambos casos se tiene buena recepcion y envío, no hay sonidos extras como el del motor del carro o de ese tipo. Parece frágil la antena pero en realidad es flexible además que el imán no se mueve, comprobado en una camioneta Ford F150 a 110 km/h. Muy buena antena, ya ordené la segunda.

no me funciono como esperaba. cuando prendo mi camioneta se escucha mucha interferencia del motor en marcha, a lo mejor no supe instalarla antena pero solo era de conectar el cable al radio y poner la antena en el toldo de mi camioneta y q lastima... no me satisface .. ojalá y alguien me pudiera ayudar a un buen funcionamiento ... gracias xalapa veracruz mexico,
